Important: the Playtest now plays like the full game
Game modes are no longer all open from the start, and portals are no longer free. What you can enter now depends on your progress:
Ascent: finish Act I of the campaign with any class.
Demon Battles: finish Act V of the campaign with any class.
Dungeon: pick up your first Dungeon Key (Ascent bosses drop them).
Horde: pick up your first Horde Key (Dungeon bosses drop them).
Once a mode opens, it opens for all your classes.
Each Dungeon, Horde or Demon Battle costs one key of its kind, or red souls instead (25, 50 and 100).
Locked portals show what opens them. The first time you come home after unlocking one, you see it open.
The Help menu has a new "Unlocking the Portals" page.
Performance
Fixed stutters at the start of Horde waves.
Very crowded fights run a lot smoother. When the screen gets packed, effects scale back a little:
At most 80 damage numbers show at once. Extra hits add to a nearby number instead of making a new one.
Enemies killed off screen no longer leave debris you can't see.
Loot trails and pickup effects get lighter during big multi-kills.
Big chains of rune explosions and gas clouds get lighter. They still deal the same damage.
Wildfire and other rune effects are much cheaper when there are a lot of enemies around.
Fixed a problem where enemies could get stuck on a missing animation and slow the game down.
Combat
Fixed a bug where casting a second spell during another spell's cast could freeze your character mid-cast.
Co-op
Item sharing. If you pick up an item you already own and it's no better than yours, it goes to the teammate who needs it most instead of being salvaged:
A teammate who doesn't have the item gets it first.
Otherwise it goes to the teammate it would upgrade.
Runes you already have 5 of go to the teammate with the fewest copies.
Ties take turns.
It reaches teammates anywhere, even in town. You'll see who got it.
If nobody can use it, for example everyone has it at Perfect, it's salvaged for red souls as before.
You can still give items by hand like before.
Loadout
Salvaging a material now lets you choose how many with a slider, instead of salvaging the whole stack.
The red souls counter at the obelisk no longer counts up souls you'd already collected.
Runeword scroll text is readable again. Long stories and bonus lists scroll with the mouse wheel instead of shrinking.
World
Dungeon runs now use all 10 dungeon tilesets.
Ascent, Dungeon and Horde bosses get a new name each time. Campaign and Demon Battle bosses keep theirs.
Minimap icons now sit where the object actually stands.
No progress reset.
