Hello everyone! This is Tenkajin IceCream, developer of TOHOTOPIA!

Here is an update on my partner’s and my development work this week (August 3–9).

Stable Version 0.7.8b Is Now Live

This week we released stable version 0.7.8b. It officially adds saves, replay playback, and match statistics, overhauls the map-generation system, and fixes the persistent stutter on large 30×30 maps.
We also added a number of usability improvements and fixed several bugs and translation errors.

Players can now save and resume matches, review full games through replays, and view detailed post-match statistics covering the military, economy, technology, heroes, and more. The new map-generation system produces more consistent results and more reasonable terrain and starting-position distributions. We also fixed the persistent gameplay stutter on large 30×30 maps.

Because this update changes the map data structure, Quick Saves made before updating may no longer be playable.
If you still want to finish your previous Quick Save, switch to the replay076d game version before updating (right-click the game → Properties → Betas), finish the match, and then return to the default branch. We apologize for the inconvenience.

These features and improvements went through many rounds of development, testing, and adjustment before reaching the stable version. Thank you for all the feedback during Beta testing. We hope 0.7.8b makes both playing matches and reviewing them afterward more complete and smooth!

First Review of All Five Factions Complete

We have completed our first overall review of the five existing factions, examining balance data such as each hero’s role and strength, as well as each faction’s economy, military, map control, and mobility.
This pass focused on reconfirming each faction’s core identity and development pacing, whether the interplay among heroes and units matches our design goals, and which balance and gameplay-experience issues most urgently need attention.

We will gradually publish and share the findings from this review and use them as an important basis for balance adjustments.
Next week, we will focus on an overall Hakurei Empire overhaul. This includes simplifying its core mechanics, sharpening each hero’s utility, simplifying and focusing unit controls and strategy, rebalancing the relationship between its units and faction progression, and balancing the Hakurei Empire’s economy and map control across different map types.

After that, we will continue with balance adjustments for the Moriya and Scarlet Empires. The specific changes will be guided by player feedback, actual match performance, and each faction’s long-term identity.

The Myouren Empire Remains in Development

Design and development of the sixth faction, the Myouren Empire, are still moving forward. Based on our current pace, we estimate that it will take about one more month to complete its development.

While continuing to build the new faction, we will also gradually optimize and rebalance the existing factions based on the completed review. We will keep sharing more specific design and development results as they become ready.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!
