We're happy to report that the game is now Steam Deck verified! To be exact, already a previous build passed the verification, but to highlight the event, we'll call this 0.7.4. update a "Steam Deck Update".
The game launched with playable rating and we were happy to publish that at the launch. During the last few weeks, we've been working on the UI scaling so that all important screens scale properly for the smaller screen of the Steam Deck and similar devices. We've personally played the game with Steam Deck and Rog Ally X. After the work we resubmitted the game for Steam Deck verification and we got the verified badge during the weekend!
There's still some stuff we'd like to do like a carousel system for quests when the UI scale is large and larger number of tracked quests starts to overlap with the minimap. Another thing is a separate UI scale modifier for the protagonist comments plus some other tweaks.
The performance on Steam Deck is quite good, but it could be better. Obviously the frame rate depends a lot on the choices the users make about the detail level. Dropping some fidelity can make the game run at constant 60 fps, but most players seem to prefer a bit more detail and not quite 60fps. Also, we might be able to squeeze out some more performance later from the engine, but that remains to be seen.
This imade depicts the Steam Deck FPS in Dysplaced - due to the limited amount of daily players, the fps may fluctuate with user detail choices each day.
Anyways, here are the change highlights from the 0.7.4.1:
