Update 1.2.1 - Loading Screen and Minor Fixes

Conqueror's Stage · published 17 Jul 2026, 00:07 UTC

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

A quick follow-up to the Banners of Command update, with a new loading screen and a handful of fixes and tweaks from your first hours with it.

New

  • A loading screen. Starting or loading a game now shows a proper loading screen while your world is generated, instead of a frozen window.

Balance

  • Citadels are worth the climb. A Citadel's daily income is doubled, so reaching the top settlement tier finally pays off.
  • Cheaper late-game research. Renaissance and Imperial technology costs have been cut, so the last two ages are far less of a grind.

Fixes

  • Citadels can be built again. After an upgrade, a city could end up quietly bound to an old hub, which stopped it from ever counting toward a Citadel. This is fixed, and older saves repair themselves on load.
  • The AI keeps advancing. An AI battle line could stall in front of a settlement it could not capture directly. It now marches on to the target that opens up the whole region.

Thank you for playing, and for all the early feedback!

Major update14 Aug 2026Update 1.5.0 - Walls & WordsThis update gives your empire walls and a voice: forts that shelter whole clusters of settlements from siege, and a diplomacy where rivals can be bought, bound as vassals, or talked out of a war you're losing. Rival powers build forts too, and read yours. Highlights · Forts: Build one on a village and every settlement around it becomes untakeable while it stands. · Dangerous ground: A garrisone…Game update24 Jul 2026Update 1.3.0: Create Your MapCreate Your Map Now you can build your own world and play it. Set the map size, factions, and their difficulties, then paint your world onto an all-ocean canvas: place land, raise it through the elevation tiers, plant forests, and assign starting factions. Save each map as a reusable template and start as many campaigns on it as you like. Reach it from the New Game lobby, or design a fresh one…Major update16 Jul 2026Update 1.2.0 - Banners of CommandTake command. This update puts a banner in your hand: plant it and your whole army rallies to it, marches with it, and in the later ages spreads into a battle line you draw yourself. The technology tree has been rebuilt around four war doctrines, the AI now leads its own armies under banners, and no two worlds come out alike anymore. It's our biggest update since launch. Highlights · Army Flags…
