EchoKey 2.1.8 – Hotfix
This update fixes issues some users saw after updating from Steam, especially lost hotkeys, incomplete settings, and sound hotkey behavior with Auto-PTT enabled.
Settings after updates
- Hotkeys, profiles, and preferences are restored more reliably from backups and legacy config folders when an update changes paths or data layout.
Sound hotkeys
- Assigned hotkeys are less likely to disappear after an update; stale paths are migrated and reconciled automatically where possible.
Auto-PTT + hotkeys
- Sound hotkeys work correctly while Auto-PTT is active.
- “Play once” and other behavior modes restart as expected instead of continuing the previous playback.
Hold mode
- Very quick taps no longer play the full sound.
- Playback only continues while the key is held and stops on release (with fade if configured).
Profiles
- Delete, archive, and restore behave more consistently.
- The UI updates immediately without requiring a restart.
Stability
- Safer startup handling for settings saves so empty or partial configs are not written over richer backups.
