Battle aboard the new Tournament Titan, earn exclusive rewards, or return to the Drifter for a lower risk raid.
The final days of Steam Next Fest are here, and Freerailers around the world have been raiding Titan Trains, upgrading their Daggers, and wreaking havoc throughout our longest and largest playtest yet.
To close out the playtest, we are releasing a new patch that introduces two new ways to play Enginefall, alongside several fixes and improvements based directly on player feedback.
A new challenge has arrived for Enginefall’s most ambitious Freerailers.
The Conductor Tournament Titan is a two-hour competitive train where crews battle to control the Conductor’s chair when the timer reaches zero and Enginefall begins. Hold the chair at the end to claim victory.
The Tournament Titans have no restrictions on the weapons, armor, or equipment you can bring aboard. This is your chance to put your strongest gear and hard-earned progression to the test.
New crews will be unable to join during the final 45 minutes of the tournament, making every fight, every position, and every push toward Conductor more important as the deadline approaches.
These trains are built for violence. TRACE and security guards have abandoned them, leaving Freerailers to fight it out on their own.
Winners of Conductor Tournament Titans will earn exclusive cosmetic rewards based on their total number of victories. These rewards will be granted manually by the Red Rover team after each win, so there may be a short wait before they appear on your account.
Once unlocked, these cosmetics can be crafted in the same manner as other cosmetics, and you will keep them all the way through launch.
Conductor Tournament Rewards
1st Win: Conductor’s Reward Scavenged Hector SMG Skin 2nd Win: Conductor’s Jacket Reward Skin 3rd Win: Golden Conductor Placeable Trophy
Will you seize the Conductor’s chair early and fortify the control room, or wait until the final moments to grapple aboard and steal victory from the crew holding it?
The choice is yours.
The Drifter Train is now repeatable.
Players looking for a lower-pressure experience can requeue for the Drifter to gather basic resources, practice the fundamentals, and prepare for their next Titan Train raid.
PvP remains restricted aboard the Drifter, but the train is not entirely safe. Scrappers have hit the gym and now match the strength of their Titan Train counterparts.
The Drifter remains limited to early game resources and relics, so crews looking to progress further will still need to take the fight to the Titan Trains.
Skyhooks are also unavailable aboard the Drifter. To secure anything you collect, you will need to survive and fully extract.
Throughout Steam Next Fest, the team has been reading your reports, reviewing feedback, and addressing the biggest issues affecting the playtest.
This update includes several smaller but meaningful changes.
Pickpocketing has been temporarily disabled.
We enjoy stealing someone’s loot as much as the next Freerailer, but the current version of the system is too powerful and lacks the clarity needed for newer players to understand what happened.
Pickpocketing will return in a future playtest after additional work and improvements.
Airlock purges are necessary to prevent camping and allow surrounding areas of the train to load, but they have also caused a significant number of unexpected deaths.
More than 30% of players have been killed by an airlock purge at least once during the playtest.
We have added clearer UI messaging to communicate when a purge is beginning and what players need to do.
We have also slightly increased the amount of time both airlock doors remain closed. This should help smooth out loading issues and give players more time to deal with the cramped chaos of sharing an airlock with strangers.
We have made backend changes to how player inventories are handled.
These changes should provide noticeable performance improvements when managing items and interacting with inventories.
Performance and optimization have been among the most common concerns raised throughout the playtest.
The team is actively investigating the issues reported by players and is working toward further fixes.
We have also identified one issue players can temporarily avoid while a permanent fix is being developed.
Repeated use of the map can gradually slow down the game’s UI. If you experience UI slowdown after opening the map several times, restarting the game should restore normal performance.
We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone who has played, shared feedback, reported bugs, and helped us improve Enginefall throughout Steam Next Fest.
The playtest is almost over, so now is the time to go all in.
Fight for the Conductor’s throne, return to the Drifter to prepare for your next raid, or take your Dagger into battle against another crew.
See you on the rails.
