Dear Decoders,

During our recent official livestream, we shared a preview of the content coming in version 1.0, along with a first look at the new DLC. Today, we’re following up with a detailed announcement covering the full release on September 10!

Full Release Price Reduction and Benefits for Existing Players

On September 10, PLATiNA :: LAB will officially leave Early Access and enter version 1.0.

To celebrate the full release, the base game will receive a major price reduction. For details, please refer to last month's official announcement:

The price for version 1.0 will be USD 19.99. For two weeks after the full release, the game will be available at 15% off, along with bundle offers - which means you will be able to get the base game, including more than 100 playable tracks, at an even better price! And more than ten cute DBs will accompany you as you play through the charts!

As a thank-you to our longtime players for their valuable feedback and continued support, players who purchased the base game and added it to their Steam library before the permanent price reduction takes effect at 3:00 a.m. UTC on September 10 will receive the following rewards when Version 1.0 launches:

  • Free access to the brand-new, content-packed SWEETIE;S DLC (see below for details)

  • And three exclusive commemorative cosmetics:

    • A themed Profile Icon

    • An animated commemorative Background

    • An exclusive Title for EA players

*All screenshots showing content still in development are for illustrative purposes only and do not represent the final version.

Important:

  • To qualify for these Early Access benefits, please ensure you purchase and add the game to your Steam library before 3:00 UTC on September 10.

  • If you purchased a Steam key, please remember to redeem it on Steam before 3:00 UTC on September 10 so you don't miss out on these exclusive items!

A world encrypted for unknown reasons awaits your decoding. Become a “Decoder” with the rare gift of decrypting encrypted data by instinct, and join PLATiNA LAB researchers AiRING, Bambi, and Cake as you investigate the encryption phenomenon and uncover the world’s secrets.

All story episodes will feature voice acting by well-known Korean voice actors, delivering a deeply immersive world-building experience!

*All screenshots showing content still in development are for illustrative purposes only and do not represent the final version.

2. New DB Characters Join the Lab!

The Lab has welcomed adorable new DB characters! Each of them has a unique personality and backstory, and they will accompany you throughout your rhythm-game journey!

3. Check My Data!

Decoders can view their overall play performance on the "MY DATA" page.

In addition to basic cumulative statistics such as the number of logins and the number of items owned, the page will also display detailed information about each player's growth trends.

4. Tutorial Has Been Added!

In response to the frequent feedback during Early Access about not understanding what PITCH notes are or how to play them, we have added a brand-new tutorial stage before players enter the main game.

The new tutorial will guide you through the basic controls of PLATiNA :: LAB step by step, including PITCH notes, helping newly recruited Decoders get started quickly!

5. Collect Your Stickers!

You can earn adorable stickers by achieving important goals in the game. Collect them all and complete your collection!

6. View the Ranking!

You can check the rankings for the patterns you've played directly in-game, rather than having to visit the website.

Additionally, you can view detailed play data to see exactly how other Decoders on the leaderboard performed.

7. More Customization Options!

More items will be added to the customization categories, including [Device], [Note], [Profile Icon], and [Profile Background].

In addition, two new customization categories, [Hit Sound] and [Title]—will be added, allowing you to create a unique audiovisual experience!

8. Watch Background Animations!

You can watch your favorite BGA on its own.

You can access this MV viewing feature through the BOOTH menu.

Major Overhaul of Existing Systems

1. Song Selection Screen Revamp

In addition to the existing categories divided by DLC, new categories such as [NEW (new songs)] and [HITCHART (popular songs)] will be added.

[Sort] and [Favorites] features—highly requested by many Decoders—will also be added.

Including these changes, version 1.0 significantly improves the song select UI so each song’s clear status is easier to see at a glance.

The previous [Filter] options for browsing songs by level and by P.A.T.C.H. points earned have also been reworked into a subfolder structure within the [LEVEL] and [P.A.T.C.H.] categories, making it more convenient to explore the tracklist.

2. Standard and Plus Difficulties Have Separate Modes

From version 1.0, the PLUS difficulty will be split into its own dedicated 4PLUS and 6PLUS modes.

There will now be a total of four playable modes available:

4LINES / 4PLUS / 6LINES / 6PLUS.

P.A.T.C.H. scores for each of these modes will also be calculated separately.

3. Level adjustments for some charts, plus new PLUS charts

  • From version 1.0, the difficulty levels of some charts will be slightly adjusted, and PLUS-difficulty charts will be newly added to some songs.

  • You can check the detailed level adjustments and the list of songs receiving new charts via the link below.

4. Score calculation overhaul

The score awarded by judgment has been changed to more intuitive values.

Before

  • PERFECT HIGH: +200

  • PERFECT: +150

  • GREAT: +100

After

  • PERFECT HIGH: +3

  • PERFECT: +2

  • GREAT: +1

5. Accuracy and P.A.T.C.H. calculation overhaul

The accuracy value assigned to each judgment will change, and the maximum accuracy achievable when hitting every note will be reworked to 100.9999%.
The way P.A.T.C.H. points are calculated from play records will also be overhauled.

Before

  • Accuracy by judgment
    • PERFECT HIGH: 100%

    • PERFECT: 100%

    • GREAT: 70%

    • GOOD: 50%

    • MISS: 0%

  • P.A.T.C.H. point calculation:Base points are earned in proportion to the chart’s level and your accuracy. If you hit every note and achieve an average accuracy of 100.0000%, a [Perfect Bonus] is added based on the ratio of PERFECT HIGH judgments among all notes. You can earn the maximum P.A.T.C.H. points when that ratio is 98% or higher.

After

  • Accuracy by judgment
    • PERFECT HIGH: 101%

    • PERFECT: 100%

    • GREAT: 70%

    • GOOD: 30%

  • Accuracy calculation:If you hit every note with a PERFECT HIGH judgment and reach an average accuracy of 101%, the recorded value will have 0.0001% subtracted from that figure. As a result, the highest accuracy achievable in a single play is 100.9999%.
Under the new calculation, the rank thresholds for SS and SS+ will also change.
  • SS rank: 99.5% → 100%

  • SS+ rank: 99.8% → 100.5%

  • P.A.T.C.H. point calculation:Base points are earned in proportion to the chart’s level and your accuracy.
Maximum P.A.T.C.H. points are awarded for achieving an average accuracy of 100.9800% or higher, or maintaining a PERFECT HIGH ratio of 98% or higher relative to the total notes.

⚠️ [Important] Play Record (Score) Reset & Reward Retention for the 1.0 Update

To coincide with the 1.0 full release, systems spanning the entire game—including score, accuracy, the PATCH calculation system, and judgment windows—have been overhauled.

To provide every Decoder with a fair, consistent, and new play experience, we have decided to reset records. Your previous play records will later be viewable through features such as a Hall of Fame. All in-game rewards earned from playing existing songs will not be reset and will remain as they are.
Examples of data that will be kept

  • Unlocked songs

  • DB affinity and affinity rewards

  • Research Log clear rewards

  • Rewards obtained via redeem codes

6. P.A.T.C.H. system overhaul

To better support Decoders’ ongoing skill growth, the P.A.T.C.H. system is being fully overhauled! We have reworked how points are calculated and the range over which they are tallied, and we have subdivided tiers within each grade so you can clearly see your step-by-step progress.

7. PAUSE penalty overhaul

The PAUSE penalty was originally introduced to create a fair ranking environment, but the way it worked was overly harsh and ended up hurting Decoders’ play experience.

From version 1.0, the PAUSE penalty will be relaxed as follows.

  • Before
    • The play record was fully invalidated and not counted toward personal cumulative data or rankings.

  • After

    • The play record will still count toward personal cumulative data and rankings, but accuracy will be reduced by 1% and score by 100 points, applied once to that record.

8. Result Screen Redesign

The redesigned result screen will provide a clearer and more intuitive comparison between your current score and your historical best score.

We have also made comprehensive improvements to the overall user experience, including adjusting the timing of the skip animation so that post-song actions feel more convenient and seamless.

9. Mode Selection Screen Revamp

The Mode Selection screen will place even greater emphasis on the adorable DB characters!

The new system will also support customizable background images and free adjustment of character positions, allowing you to create a personalized interface that is uniquely yours.

10. Research Note Expansion

The Research Note mode has received a major update! More types of missions have been added, and the rewards for completing them have become more plentiful.

11. Expanded DB Companion Voice Events

During performances, the situations that trigger voice events for DB characters have been expanded!

You can hear their lively voice interactions in a wider variety of situations, such as when you achieve “Combo Maintained,” complete a “Section Clear,” or receive a “Judgment Miss”!

12. Gameplay Panel Customization

  • You can adjust the default brightness of the MV displayed in the background.

  • You can individually adjust the opacity of each element that makes up the device.

  • You can adjust the opacity of the [Device Background] where notes appear, to keep the background visible.

  • You can adjust the opacity of the [Judgment Line Shading] displayed above the judgment line, to keep the judgment line visible.

    • Runtime performance has been improved through asset optimization and sound engine stabilization.

    • Load times for some UI elements have been reduced.

  • Many songs that previously required unlocking will now be available by default.

    • Most songs that previously had to be unlocked through Research Log content can be played immediately from version 1.0 with no extra unlock process.

    • Aside from certain songs provided as final rewards, most tracks will be unlocked by default.

  • New affinity milestone gifts have been added for each DB.

    • A [Title] will be added as a gift for reaching affinity level 10 on all DBs.

    • A [Sticker] will be added as a gift for reaching affinity level 7 on most DBs.

    • These will not be provided for variation (alternate) characters or characters offered as DLC content.

    • If you already met the corresponding DB affinity requirement during Early Access, you will receive the gift immediately when the 1.0 update is complete.

  • The unlock conditions for some rewards will change.

    • If you already obtained the relevant items during Early Access, you can continue using them without needing to meet the new conditions again.

  • Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese have been added as selectable text languages.
