eSail v3.2.08

Thank you to all our contributors for your ideas and feedback! (Note these improvements were made across versions 3.2.04 to 3.2.08)

  1. Fixed the upgrade path when upgrading from V1 to V3. This was leading to a frozen first splash screen.

  2. I have added resizer handles to the instrument panel and the 'plan' panel.

  3. I have been doing work to make sure the boat and anchor behave properly after restoring when the tide has changed. Symptoms included the anchor being underground and the boat jittering as it struggled to raise above the seabed. Now if you come back to eSail and you have left your boat in shallow water (lower tide) the boat will heel over. Normal grounding behaviour should be unaffected where you should still be able to recover if you keep the engine running for a few minutes. In the case of the boat tipped over due to a tide change - you will probably have to wait for the tide!

  4. Now the underwater colour should be consistent with the above water colour. This is mainly noticeable if you are in the swamp or an estuary where you get murky brown water.

  5. The asymmetric had a bug which meant there was little heeling when using it. This has been made more realistic so be careful. I will be looking more at the asymmetric in future updates.

  6. It became apparent recently that Unity had changed the way keyboards are read. This means that for AZERTY and other keyboards, keys shown under Keyboard Controls do not match the key being read by eSail. I have now reverted to the previous method which means that A actually means A whatever keyboard layout you use. Unfortunately, if you have modified your keys in V3 this will now mean some of those mappings will not work.

There is alert inside eSail to explain this. If you are affected by this simply go into your keyboard controls and change the mappings.

  7. Fix to show jib upper telltales (bug found in 3.2.x)

  8. Fix to allow user to change boats (bug introduced in 3.2.07)

Smaller bugs fixed:

  • Tidal curve diagram cropped on certain resolutions

  • Multiplayer list of boats having lots of space at top

  • Winch handles occasionally going invisible

  • Tooltip flashing over starboard aft winch

  • After putting up mainsail some keyboard shortcuts not working

  • Zoom keyboard shortcuts not working on chart

  • Zoom keyboard shortcuts very slow on plan view

  • Comms panel visible then disappears

  • We used to have spray at the stern when on motor. This seemed to get lost somehow so has now been restored.

  • Birds in the Trade Islands were flying very high so you may not even have realised they were there. They have been dropped by about 200 metres so hopefully you will now see them!

  • Fix to stop other player's boats jittering. This was mainly seen in the Trade Islands.

  • The asymmetric snuffer has been improved to stop it going crazy occasionally as you sail the oceans.

  • Now if you have eSail 'Windowed' you can hit the red X without risking corrupting data.

  • Fixed a big jolt that could happen normally out at sea.
