Summer is over, winter is coming—and development on Skyward Masters continues. Here are a few selected work-in-progress highlights from August.
So geometrically satisfying...
Welcome to the Skyward ASMR Content Branch. Sit back, relax, and watch the hexagonal components of our new conceptual Holo-Bridge system click into place.
This is an early look at how bridges may work during the Alpha:
Build smarter. Bridge farther.
Bridges is definitely one of the Unique Selling Points of Skyward Masters, our version of Minecraft building blocks, where you use Holo-Bridges to go from floating island to island across the Skyward arena of the Shattered Ruins.
We need the bridges to look brilliant, since you are going to see them quite a lot, but also, they first and foremost need to be operating smoothly to integrate into the fast-paced movement Arena-shooter.
Our 3D-Artist and in-house bridge expert, Martin, has been busy in August working on the Holo-Bridge system and updating it as we get closer to Alpha.
Say hello to the Storm Rifle—the third Alpha weapon revealed alongside the Zephyr Pistol and Cyclone SMG.
As Samuel, our 3D Artist, explains:
“Unlike our more traditional weapons, the Storm Rifle uses electricity to make its bullets go... faster.”
Does that make sense? Kind of. Will it look cool once the VFX are added? Definitely. ⚡

Henrik, our Senior Animator, has meanwhile been making the Cyclone SMG feel a little more “pew-pew-pew.” His words, not ours.
Our latest character armor has also gone from roughly 120 million polygons to 53,000, taking it from a high-poly sculpt to a game-ready model. Next up: rigging, implementation and texturing—including the final color palettes for Skyward’s four teams.
Watch the complete August recap:
Everything shown is still work in progress and may change during development.
While the rest of us work on bridges, weapons and character models, Flora—our office mascot and Head of Morale—continues overseeing development.
Current productivity rating: acceptable. Treat supply: insufficient.
Until next time, Skywarders. Go BIG or go BIGGER!
