We've got some news for you regarding the planned upcoming playable characters. While we believe some will find this news unfortunate, the implications that come with it bring something new to be excited about! So please bear with us for a moment here, we promise it's not as bad as it sounds.
Let's just rip the bandaid off right away: The planned 5th guest fighter is cancelled.
Don't worry, nothing bad happened between us and the owner of said guest character. This decision was made for purely personal reasons which we won't get into, and our collaborator (whose identity we will not reveal, out of respect for them) has been very understanding of our situation. If we decide to support Duels of Fortune post-launch, it is entirely possible that we will revisit this collaboration at a later date, but for now, we have deemed it best to call it off.
So... is Duels of Fortune just going to have one less character in the roster?
Nope! We're currently working on a plan to re-fill this newly-open playable character slot, and we think you guys are gonna love it! We're not quite ready to tell you what exactly we're working on, but we can for sure tell you that it's going to get the community talking! We intend to reveal our plans late this year or early next year, after giving the upcoming mystery fighter "Chain" some time to settle, so look forward to that!
Speaking of "Chain", those of you keeping up with our status updates may remember that they're supposed to be releasing this month, and we have no intention of going back on that promise! We'll make an announcement on our social media and in our Discord server when the character's reveal trailer is coming, but if you happen to miss it, we'll also post our usual Steam status update to make sure you're in the know on the same day as the reveal!
In any case, we hope you're just as excited as we are for the next fighter after "Chain", even if it's not what you might have initially expected! Talk to you again soon!
