Hotfix v1.08 Save protection

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Hello everyone! Thank you for your reports. This hotfix removes a startup block and strengthens the protection of your saves.

  • No more startup block: some of you saw the "Save protection" screen at every launch, with the message "The native save could not be imported into the runtime cache." This could happen after playing on another PC, with another Steam account, or after restoring a save file. The game now starts normally with your most recent save.
  • A safety copy before every replacement: before one save replaces another, at startup or during a Steam Cloud sync, the game keeps a dated copy of the old one in its save folder.
  • Your progress stays safe from one version to the next: if a save contains a cat or an item that a version of the game does not know (for example after trying a beta branch), the game no longer resets it. It asks you to update the game and leaves the save untouched, including in Steam Cloud.

If your cat seems to have lost progress because of this block, let us know with the "Report a problem" button: the safety copy will help us recover it.
