Hello Birders! Today we have a big update for you that has been in the works for a while. This patch addresses a lot of the feedback we've heard over the past couple of months and we hope it makes the game feel even better! We are really proud of Emu Island but we felt like it was missing something, so we've added birds to increase the content in the DLC.
For those of you running out of ways to get money and having a lack of things to do once the guidebook is complete, we have a brand new quest system!
Finally for those still on the shiny hunt, we have a major quality of life improvement to how Shiny Bells work. We'll have more updates to come over the next few weeks with even more quality of life improvements, features, and even some preliminary mod support!
Patch Notes
1.1.25 New Birds Arriving in Emu Island
We feel we missed the mark a bit on the amount of content in the Emu Island DLC. So to make up for that we're adding 8 more birds which were the most requested by the community. This brings the total number of birds in the DLC to 40!
New Feature: Quest System
Quests provide optional objectives to earn some extra cash.
Quests are lobby-wide, everyone sees the same quests.
Interact with the Quest Board and select up to 3 quests.
There are two quest boards in Goose Lake (Marsh and Fall), and one in Emu Island (Grasslands).
When everyone who has accepted a quest has completed it, it will disappear and a new quest will take its place.
New Camera Upgrades
To assist in Quests, we've added some new camera upgrades to show Rarity of the selected bird and the Star Rating of the photo you're about to take.
We also added a highly requested upgrade that un-highlights birds that you've already completed in the guidebook.
UI Scaling
The UI will now scale with window size for screens taller than 1080px.
If this causes issues for you, you can use the uiscaling off console command to disable it.
Misc Changes
Shiny Bells now spawn shinies within the biome you're standing in.
New sound effects (mostly for the quest system, but we also added sounds for gaining currency)
The Goose Lake area behind the waterfall now counts as all biomes, similar to how it worked in the demo.
General Fixes (Emu Island)
Fixed artifacting/pixelation on many Emu Island Birds.
Shiny Birds should no longer be visible through reeds and other transparent walls in Emu Island
Various fixes and improvements to flightless birds and Penguins
Fixed Magpie call sounds to include all of the calls we made for it.
