DORTS — Final Demo Update

First off - a massive thank you to everyone who has played the demo so far! There has been so much great feedback and a growing commuinty over the last few months, it has been amazing!

This post goes over everything that's changed since the first demo. If you played Dorts early on and haven't been back in a while — here's what you've missed!

Career Mode

A full career mode with 4 divisions: Den League, Regional Tour, Challenge Tour, and Pro League. Play round-robin league seasons with promotion and relegation based on standings. Each division plays at its own venue with its own pool of rivals.Career tournaments run between seasons — the World Championship, Amateur Worlds, Dorts Open, and the World Cup (doubles). Over 15 trophies to chase across seasons, tournaments, and milestones. 40+ unique opponents across all divisions. Lots more planned for this in the full version!

Dart Workshop

Build your own darts from scratch. Pick barrel, shaft, and flight from a library of parts, then customise colours, surface patterns, and material finishes on each part independently. Your custom darts sync in multiplayer — opponents and spectators see your design.

The Arena

A professional darts arena venue with stage lighting, projector screens, and a live crowd that reacts to your performance. Over 1000 audience characters across standing and seated sections.

The Irish Pub

A grand spot for a few creamy pints. And throwing some darts of course!

General Venue Improvements

Each venue now has a unique intro cinematic camera flythrough with music and crowd applause. Celebration cameras cut to the crowd on leg wins, 180s, and checkouts.

Set Play

Matches can be played as best-of-N sets, each set best-of-M legs. The World Championship and Dorts Open use sets. A TV-style scoreboard overlay shows live scores, legs, sets, and checkout route.

Dart Physics

Darts now stick into the board at their flight angle instead of always pointing straight forward. Steep throws look steep, flat throws look flat. Bounce-outs — if a dart's shaft collides with another dart's barrel on the way in, it bounces out. Grouping tight trebles just got tougher!

Quadro 240 Board

A new board type with a quadruple ring between the treble and the bull, where every segment scores 4x. Can be used in multiplayer too!

Bull-Up

Before the first leg of every 501 match, both players throw a single dart at the bull. Closest to the centre throws first — just like real darts. Works in solo, vs AI, and online multiplayer.

Snooker Mode

A completely new game mode. The dartboard transforms into a snooker table with pockets, cushions, and a baulk line. Pot reds and colours in alternation following real snooker rules. Balls have physics — they must physically reach a pocket to score. Full red/colour alternation, re-spotting, and break tracking with a dedicated snooker HUD. Just for fun :D

Multiplayer

  • Spectator mode — a third player can join the lobby and watch the match live.

  • Player Eye View — watch the opponent throw from their perspective during their turn.

  • Post-match summary — side-by-side stats comparison with Steam avatars.

  • Board type selector in the lobby — play Quadro 240 with friends.

  • Throw style selection — pick your control scheme from the lobby.

  • Set play configurable from the lobby.

  • Multiplayer net wins leaderboard on Steam.

Roguelike Content

The roguelike mode has grown massively since launch:

  • 23 upgrades including Clutch Gene, Mulligan, Hail Mary, Inner Demon, Glass Cannon, One Dart Wonder (with The Wasp!), and more.

  • 12 leg mutators across three categories — Board Game (Shooting Gallery, Whack-a-Mole, Go Fishing), Format Shift (The Long Leg, Sprint, Sudden Death), and Mind Game (Copycat, Double Trouble, Showdown).

  • 16 disruptions that now persist and intensify across the leg instead of resetting each visit. Three categories: Control, Board, and Visual — with immunity upgrades to block each.

  • Gold and a shop — earn gold from every dart, spend it every 3 legs on new upgrades, rerolls, or stacking.

  • Stat levels — all stats use clear levels (-5 to +5) with real-time annotations showing what's changing your stats and why.

  • Dart archetypes — Bruiser, Surgeon, Monk, and Showman each change how you play.

  • 12 unique sway patterns — a different one each visit so your aim never feels the same twice.

Stats and Leaderboards

Lifetime statistics track your career across all modes: 3-dart average, checkout percentage, 180s, highest checkout, and more. Per-scheme roguelike leaderboards split by control scheme so scores are ranked fairly.

Quality of Life

  • Left-handed throwing toggle.

  • UI overhaul — new main menu, run setup, and HUD.

  • How to Play popup with About, Catalog, and Patch Notes tabs.

  • Dart skins and bar themes.

  • Opponents all have unique taunts and dialogue.

  • Live news banner on the main menu.
