When moving floating panels or toolbars in a floating state, they can now snap to other panels and toolbars.
Hold Shift or Alt while moving to temporarily disable snapping.
Snapping is enabled by default.
If you need an option to disable it permanently, please let us know and we will consider adding one.
"Selected Color Indices" has been added as a gradient color source.
This mode draws the gradient using the colors currently selected in the color palette.
You can use it from "Edit > Tool Options > Gradation Color > Selected Color Indices".
A toolbar for adjusting animation playback speed has been added to the Sprite Frame panel.
This is useful when you want to adjust playback speed temporarily while checking an animation, without changing the frame durations as permanent data.
The toolbar is hidden by default.
To show it, use "View > Panel > Sprite Frame Panel Menu > View > Toolbars > Playback Speed Toolbar".
Frame animations do not have a dedicated playback speed toolbar, but the same UI can be added using the toolbar customization feature.
The Sprite panel menu now includes "Inherit Previous Parts in Empty Cells" under its layer settings.
When this option is enabled, an empty cell in a sprite layer can continue displaying the part used in the previous frame.
You can now import the parts arranged to the right of the selected sprite part sequentially.
This is useful for registering multiple parts at once when sprite images are arranged regularly on the canvas.
Run it from "View > Panel > Sprite Panel Menu > Part > Import Parts to the Right of Selected Part".
When selecting the previous or next frame in the Sprite Frame panel, the reference image position and scroll position can now follow the selection.
You can configure this from "View > Panel > Sprite Frame Panel Menu > View > Follow Source Image on Previous/Next Frame Selection".
Onion skin now includes a Tint mode that displays previous and next frames in red and blue.
The color makes it easier to tell whether a faint frame is before or after the active frame.
This is available for both frame animations and sprite animations.
Choose "Previous Red, Next Blue" to enable it.
You can now save and switch between onion skin settings using presets.
The "Set as Default" feature has also been added to save the current settings as the initial settings for new data.
Both features are available from the Onion Skin Settings dialog.
They support both frame animations and sprite animations.
Settings saved with "Set as Default" are shared between frame animations and sprite animations.
Recent files can now be displayed as a catalog with thumbnails.
This is useful when file paths alone make it difficult to distinguish the contents.
Use "File > Recent Files > Show Catalog" or the "▼" button to the right of the toolbar's Open icon.
Selection transforms now include "Do Not Alpha-Composite When Confirming with a Left-Click Outside the Selection".
This is useful when you want a translucent preview while positioning a selection, but do not want alpha compositing when confirming it.
With this setting enabled, a left-click confirms without alpha compositing, while a right-click confirms as usual.
Configure it from "Selection Tool Option Bar > Mouse Icon > Do Not Alpha-Composite When Confirming with a Left-Click Outside the Selection".
Layer and cell thumbnails are now displayed based on the smallest area containing image data.
This makes the contents easier to identify from thumbnails even when a small pixel-art image is drawn on a large canvas.
If you need an option to switch back to the previous display method, please let us know and we will consider adding one.
When saving an indexed-color image as PNG, the palette index configured as the transparent color index is now embedded in the file.
This means that when you reopen the saved PNG in Edge3, you no longer need to set the transparent color again each time.
This feature is available only for indexed-color images.
Images in the clipboard can now be pasted as a new layer.
Run it from "Edit > Special Paste > Paste to New Layer".
You can also select it from the "▼" to the right of the Paste button on the toolbar.
In an RGBA image, Ctrl-clicking the main color now applies that color back to the palette.
To support this, when the selected palette index for the main color differs from the actual RGBA value, the red outline on the palette is now shown semi-transparently instead of being hidden.
"Continue Right-Click Action" has been added to the customization options for right-drag actions in drawing tools.
This can be used when you want to continuously perform an action such as picking colors during a right-drag.
Toolbar layouts can now be selected from multiple options.
This can be configured by right-clicking the toolbar gripper in both docked and floating states.
