The relationships between shared cels are now easier to understand on the timeline.
Shared cels can now be identified by double borders, linked displays, and connecting lines, making it easier to see which cels are shared.
The shared icon previously shown inside cels has been removed.
Cel Properties now includes a “Cel Offset” setting.
This lets you keep the image shared while slightly changing its position for each frame, such as in animations that use shared cels.
Previously, changing the position of shared cels required editing each image separately. With this feature, you can adjust only the position for each frame while continuing to share the image.
In the Move tool, you can switch the move target between “Image” and “Cel Offset”.
You can also enter the X/Y coordinates for the cel offset directly in Cel Properties.
Images can now be saved in BMP format.
This is useful for exchanging data with older software that does not support PNG.
Note: Alpha channels are not supported.
You can now choose when Line Mode is activated for the Pen and Eraser tools.
The following two options are available:
After Stroke Only (equivalent to Edge2 behavior)
Always (previous Edge3 behavior)
The default has been changed to “After Stroke Only”, which is equivalent to Edge2.
When using shortcuts with the Shift key frequently, “Always” could briefly draw a line on the canvas while pressing a key.
Using “After Stroke Only” prevents this behavior.
You can change this setting at any time from “Pen Tool Options Toolbar > Mouse > Line Mode”.
You can now toggle the visibility of the alpha slider row in the Color Palette.
If you do not use alpha values, hiding the row keeps the palette more compact.
Toggle it from “Color Palette Panel Menu > View > Alpha Slider”.
As an experimental feature, “Pixel Art” has been added as an interpolation mode for selection transforms.
It helps reduce jagged edges when rotating an image.
It is available in both Indexed Color and RGBA color modes.
You can change it from “Selection Tools Options Toolbar > Interpolation Mode”.
Auto Scroll, which was available in Edge2, has been implemented for the following tools:
Polygon Tool
Polygon Fill Tool
Spline Curve Tool
Polygon Selection Tool
After the second vertex, the canvas automatically scrolls when the mouse cursor moves outside the display area.
You can toggle it from “Options Toolbar > Auto Scroll”.
It is enabled by default.
Reduced the momentary overshoot of the next curve when adding a vertex with the Spline tool.
Added a subtle drop shadow to tooltips.
Adjusted when edits are reflected in the Animation Preview Panel and how much of the panel is updated at a time.
The Animation Preview Panel button is now also placed on the Main Toolbar by default.
Added commands for selecting the layer above or below the current layer, including hidden layers. Assign shortcut keys to the commands under “Layer Panel Menu > Layer > Layer Selection” to use them.
Added commands for selecting the previous or next frame, including frames excluded from animation. Assign shortcut keys to the commands under “Layer Panel Menu > Frame > Frame Selection” to use them.
Slightly expanded the color detection range of color pickers, such as the HSV Color Wheel. Colors are now easier to pick near boundaries.
Fixed an issue where “Rotation Pivot > Always Show” did not work.
Fixed an issue where Cel Properties and layer mask settings were not reflected in the Reduce Color Count dialog preview. The confirmed result was not affected.
Fixed an issue where saving an asset with an empty name made the file impossible to open.
Fixed an issue where the first vertex was not drawn when clicking it in the Polygon tool and similar tools if Tool Preview was disabled.
Fixed an issue where Smooth interpolation during a selection transform could reference the colors of dots outside the selection.
Improved issues occurring only on Windows 10, including the lower-right area of the canvas not being drawn correctly and a white bar appearing at the top of the window.
