ClickCrafter Playtest: Patch Notes for 0.2.9

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Another pretty substantial patch incoming! To stay true to the game’s name, your first crafting experience in ClickCrafter now comes even earlier! The Workshop is now the first player buildable unlocked, with the Mana Focus moving later in the game, once the need for mana on demand is greater. The game also has a new Quest Tracker to help keep you... well, on track.

Plus, ClickCrafter now has an Auto Action button! You can now play this Clicker in even more ways, depending on what you want from your incremental experience:

  • Click manually for the old school “clicksperience”

  • Press and hold to AutoClick

  • Hold/Toggle AutoAction to AutoClick valid targets while your cursor remains hovered over them

The UI rework continues and is just about wrapped up in this version. The Main Menu and any remaining UI screens should be updated by the Demo’s release. There are also new QoL/Accessibility settings available, with further planned (please continue to suggest any missing ones!)

It’s possible this may be the final playtest patch before the Demo is released — stay tuned for more updates! Once the Demo is released, this Playtest will continue to be the place to test the full game; so stick around if you want to try out even more content for free!

Fixed Bugs

  • Fix annoying bug with modal not fully closing when remapping controls

Balance / Content Changes

  • The Workshop now unlocks after the Windmill instead of the Mana Focus.

  • The Mana Focus unlocks after the first AutoMiners now; we’ll see how this makes the period before the Stone Bridge feel — if it’s too mana-tight, it’ll be tweaked again!

  • Some recipe requirements and costs have been adjusted as a result of this reshuffling

Quality of Life / Aesthetic Improvements

  • Your next major goal/quest in the game is now displayed in the top right, to help players who found the progression a bit fuzzy.

  • AutoClick/Pick/Drop should activate more quickly and reliably now

  • The Pause menu has been updated to the new style

  • The Save/Load windows have been updated to the new style

  • Added toggle to show/hide AutoSaves in Load/Save windows

  • Added AutoSave on Exit option

  • Added Exit Game option to Pause Menu (must use this or Exit to Main Menu button for Auto Save on Exit to trigger!)

  • The Building List/Info panels have been updated to the new style

  • Added opacity sliders for Controls Legend and new Quest Tracker in Settings

  • Added Hold/Toggle switch for Sprint in Settings

  • Added Ctrl/East Face as AutoAction trigger; will automatically Click/Pick/Drop when hovering over valid targets —

    • Will automatically Drop / Pick / Click valid targets (in that order of preference)

    • Will not click to open UI menus

    • Will not drop items on empty ground

    • Will not pick items from anything with Inventory (Shop, Crafter, Storage)

  • Added in-game dialogue for AutoAction

  • Added AutoAction to key remap page

  • Added Hold/Toggle switch for AutoAction in Settings

  • Added UI elements showing when Sprint and AutoAction are on

Known Issues

  • some players report Iron Rods spawn with incorrect height — the Island’s ground collision heightmap may need updating

Coming Soon / Other Roadmap Plans & Ideas

  • Recipe / Item Tooltips

  • More Runes and lore on the south beach

  • Repair landmarks further?

  • Fishing?

  • Buy empty parcel(s) of land offshore to craft/build?

  • Hold/toggle Alt to only pick up items that match the one currently queued in hand?

  • More levels for existing upgrades

  • Camera Base Speed Up

  • Crafter Mana (Fuel) Efficiency Up

  • Mana Focus Conversion Efficiency Up

  • Auto Gatherers (loaders)

  • Auto Distributors (throwers)

  • Dimensional storage?

  • Minimap? Zooming camera in/out?

  • Warping camera home?

  • More island tiers/levels, more resource wells, more recipes, more crafting buildings, more story!
