July 2025 Development Update and New Roadmap

Hello!

Hello fellow Stickman! I've been quiet for a while on The Stickman except for one stream I did in June with some updates and showcasing a new level mechanic. [VOD Link: https://www.twitch.tv/thesimpleshark/v/2493491905?sr=a] In this update, I'm going to discuss changes to levels, gameplay and movement adjustments, along with the expansion of weapons, abilities, and talking about what's next.

Level Changes

There are a few changes from the demo to levels that I made after seeing multiple people run into the same issues. The goal with these changes is to make the game more fluid and not punish the player for taking a lot of time, or simply succeeding by collecting letters.

The original idea was that you got 5 stars for collecting all letters, completing all encounters, and completing the level under Author time. Author time is the time it takes for the Author of the level (me) to complete the level. The author time was originally determined based on completing the level with 3 or less deaths.

Stars have been changed to 3 main objectives per level, Completion, finding Adventurous Alvin, and collecting all letters. Your time and improvement time is still shown when in Single Player but not coop.

Adventurous Alvin was not in the demo at all. You can find Adventurous Alvins flag somewhere very hidden in the level. The flag has a note which explains lore about the world of The Stickman.

It's important to note that if you unlocked the Golden Goose by getting 5 stars, you still keep it, even with the systems changing.

A Whole New World

The biggest thing I've been working on is the second world of levels and environment.

The Jetpack

The Jetpack is 1 of the movement mechanics featured in the second world. Hit a JetPad to do a sick backflip, then ignite the Jetpack to fly in the direction you're facing.

The H.O.R.S.I.E

The H.O.R.S.I.E is the second movement mechanic featured in the second world. Once you reach a gate, you mount a H.O.R.S.I.E which is equipped with a Hot Dog Revolver and a S.N.O.T Rocket. It can also drift and do aerobatics while in the air!

Weapons and Abilities

Each level introduces a unique loadout, which means every level has a new weapon, grenade, and special right now. I would love to montage and show you all of them, but I also want everything to be a surprise. So I'm not going to show any of them, but they're cool trust me.

Customization

Fixed multiple crashes and bugs that happened while drawing and creating skins.

Movement Adjustments

Turns out I had my numbers and nodes wrong. In the demo, some of the movement was based on framerate up to 60fps. Meaning that if you were under 60fps, the force was not being applied the same. If you were over 60fps, then you didn't experience this bug at all.

Updated Roadmap

This is the updated roadmap for what I'll be working on up until release into Early Access.

And that's it! If you read this far, then thanks! I hope to do an update every month, maybe every couple months depending on how busy I am or what I'm working on. Have a good rest of your day!

P.S I'm not even sure if what I created is a roadmap. It might be like an update or a task list, but I'm too lazy to change it
