Dev Log #4 | When the Lights Go Out: The Power System Is Live

There’s a moment—when every light on the map suddenly shuts off— that you realize something important: you’ve been relying on light this whole time.

With this update, we’ve turned light into a resource. The Power System is now in the game.

Light Has to Be Earned 💡

Lighting is no longer just background decoration.

Overall visibility and certain core functions depend on a central device — the Lighting Power Reactor.

When it’s running properly, all power-dependent light sources across the map activate.

The hallways are clear, and all the rooms look “normal.”

But when it shuts down, darkness takes over.

You’ll have to rely on your character’s faint natural glow or whatever light source you’re carrying.

Darkness is no longer just a visual atmosphere. It affects your decisions, your route planning, and your survival pressure.

Power Doesn’t Fix Itself 🔧

The Lighting Power Reactor always spawns in the Surveillance Control Center.

It’s not decoration—it’s a true functional hub.

If you want the lights back on, you’ll have to take action!

Repair components spawn randomly across the map. You’ll need to find them, bring them back, and fix the system.

And this isn’t a “repair it once and forget it” mechanic.

Power can fail for multiple reasons:

  • Core components may gradually break down

  • Circuit breakers can fail

  • Switches may randomly trip

  • Energy reserves can run out

And of course—monsters won’t sit idle.

They can sabotage the reactor, shut off switches, or even steal stored energy.

When the Lights Go Out, the World Changes 🌑

Under full power, rooms look normal.

Clear structure. Clean layout.

But when the lights are off, the environment shifts.

Details that were hidden in the light begin to surface.

The same map under different power states feels like two completely different spaces.

This isn’t just a brightness adjustment.

It’s a shift in atmosphere.

A shift in tension.

A shift in how safe you feel.

What’s Next

This is the first full reveal of the Power System.

Moving forward, we’ll continue to expand its interactions with God’s Command, monster behaviour, and even the cooking cart.

Because in Desserted, darkness has never been a background flavour.

It’s just waiting for you to make a mistake. ⚠️

However, we discovered some even more fun things: · Players started arguing. · Players started making “questionable” decisions. · Players started… feeding each other a little too enthusiastically. We also hope that players will gradually realize: This isn’t just a co-op game. It’s a game…In-game event13 Mar 2026Devlog #5 — Welcome to Prefabot HotelIn this development log, we want to introduce the first map players will encounter in Desserted : Prefabot Hotel. This is currently the most feature-rich map in the game, and it is also home to the two “residents” we want to introduce today. If you happen to meet them in the hotel… you might want to be prepared.
