Roadmap to Release!

Hello high rollers!

Thank you all for checking Diecast out as part of the Tiny Teams Festival! I appreciate all the feedback and reviews I've received so far, and I am reading them all and taking notes on how to improve the game.

As Tiny Teams is nearing its end, I wanted to share a rough roadmap of what to expect in 2025 leading up to release in 2026. You can find the roadmap below.

Diecast (Tentative) Roadmap to Release

Late August:

Quality of Life

This update will bring some bug fixes, as well as time spent making sure all text for hands, dice, and pins is consistent across the board. Hands will also get a slight rework with how cooldown and expanded info is displayed.

Finally, I've received feedback about full-stop bosses, which I agree are annoying when they end a run without warning. I don't want to go the reroll route, as I feel that can be an easy out as a developer. While rerolling bosses may end up being an option, I'm planning to take a different route.

Certain bosses (looking at you Hoarder, Mountain, and Molehill) will become minibosses of a sort at Sectors 4 and 6. These will become "Dual Duel" sectors, where you are given a choice of two bosses with opposite but similar strategies. Mountain (only dice valued 4 and higher can be scored) and Molehill (only dice valued 4 and lower can be scored) will become paired at the top, and you will get to choose which to face. Hoarder (you must play five dice) will get a new paired boss Pincher (you must play four or less dice).

More paired bosses will be planned for future updates, to help spread out the boss pool for multiple runs.

October:

Beta Test

This update will be a private beta through Steam, with some major reworks to the design of the game. This will be fairly open, and shared through Discord or other channels. This update will focus on adding a base for more variety and content, that will be expanded in future updates.

Alternate Shops

  • Alternate shops will be added, and provide more options for crafting a specific build. Examples include:

    • Whoops All Dice: Extra dice appear in the shop.

    • Pin Trader: Extra pins appear in the shop.

    • Farmer's Market: Only fruit dice appear in the shop.

    • Math Class: Only number dice appear in the shop.

Dice Classes

  • Dice classes will be introduced, leading to only certain dice appearing in shops. This will also be used later to affect scoring hands or pins in future updates.

New Dice, Scoring Hands, Bosses, etc.

  • More content will be added to increase build variety, and help fill out shops (Farmer's Market). Unique scoring hands will be added to further increase variety, and more bosses will be added with different twists (Gambler, Void).

November:

Core Engine Work

This update will (finally) introduce a save/load system, unlockables, and groundwork for future language localization. This will be a lot of deep system work that won't be pretty for sharing (but I probably still will over on Bluesky). Dice, pins, and scoring hands will be locked with this update, to help with initial runs not feeling overwhelming. These will be unlocked through completing specific in-game achievements. Language localization will be coming (eventually) hopefully for release. If not, my plan is to add more languages ASAP after release. Which leads to...

2026:

Release!

My plan is for Diecast to release in early 2026. I'm working on Diecast in my free time as a solo hobby project, so the release may change depending on life events, time available, etc. There's no set deadline for me, and no rush to complete the game. I'd rather release Diecast when it is ready, than rush to finish it by a certain date.

That's it! Thank you all for checking out Diecast during the Tiny Teams Festival! Thank you for the feedback, bug reports, and especially Steam reviews. I'm taking all the feedback to heart to make this game into something special.

Kind regards,

sofamire

I've been working away on two brand new game modes for the full release that have me really excited.
