Welcome to the fourth episode of our Dev Dog Diaries with members of the team at Observer Interactive!
In this series of posts and videos, Team17 sat down with the team working on Rover's Tale, Observer Interactive, and their gorgeous canine pets (who are in the game 👀) to discuss their upcoming Creature Collector PET-roidvania! 🐶
This time we're checking in with studio producer Harry and Alf the dog, who stars in our upcoming indie game as a LAIKA space rover!
"I'm Harry and I'm a studio producer at Observer Interactive.
This is Alf! He's a Jack-Chi, so a cross between a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua."
"Yeah, it's amazing to see all of the dogs for all the staff and it's really wholesome because they'll come into the office and we get to see them all the time.
So it's it's kind of like a little family of dogs, along with the staff we’ve got so it's really good."
"He's such a cool little character in real life. It's really awesome to see him in the game, as a rover. And he's got such good personality in the game and he's also a really important character. So it's cool!"
"So in his concept he's got a cravat, which we’ve carried over from him wearing cravats in real life.
Because he's quite an extravagant little fellow and he looks really smart and stuff, that's totally related to his character in the game and his concept.
Bailey did a really, really good job of like capturing the essence of Alf in the concept."
"Yeah, because I think in real life he's always like digging up stuff and finding things like bones, and dental sticks and like hiding them, and re-burying them.
And I feel like he likes to sort of preserve those things by hiding them around. So I think it really suits his personality, like just preservation."
