Megaquarium's latest expansion is out now!

A huge gameplay update has also gone live. For more information on what was included, check out these blog posts:

Convert to capsule:

If anyone notices any bugs to do with either the new DLC or update, then please let me know via the Steam discussions.

To celebrate the launch of the Invertebrilliant Collection, I've highlighted a few of my favourite animals below...

Coco Worm

The Coco Worm creates its protective tube by secreting calcium carbonate, so guess what? It needs a lot of Calcium. See last week's blog post if you missed the changes coming to calcium reactors.

One thing I really like about Coco Worms, is that unlike most corals, they don't need light. This makes them perfect to pair with Mirror Anthias or Reef Squirrelfish, who dislike lights. What's more, if you add at least 3 other species to the tank, the Coco Worms will get a prestige boost thanks to their Communal tag.

Boxing Shrimp

The Boxing Shrimp is a fun animal to build a tank around. They live in pairs, so it's a minimum of 2 in a tank. They can be territorial, but their small size mitigates this unless they are in large numbers. The next step is to choose some soft corals, as each Boxing Shrimp requires 2.

If there are at least 10 rocks in the tank, the shrimp are worth additional prestige. I like to use the Rubble decoration with my Boxing Shrimp as it maximises soft coral capacity and rock count.

Button Polyps

Button Polyps become available at rank 3, allowing you to start your coral collecting journey earlier! At this rank, reaching a water quality of 70% can be tricky, but low feeding requirements and high prestige value make it worth the effort. Button Polyps have some unique features: They come in three different colour variants, all unlocked simultaneously. Although guests will treat them as the same animal, you'll be rewarded with extra prestige if you use all the variants - similar to the hybrids from Freshwater Frenzy.

Button Polyps also make use of a brand new mechanic for this DLC: optional light requirements. They survive with a light level of 5, but will truly flourish with heavier lighting, netting you extra prestige.

Wrapping up

Invertebrates, as a group, don't always get the recognition they deserve and we've tried to change this! I've had a lot of fun designing and playing with the Invertebrilliant Collection, and I hope you do too.

If you enjoy it, then please consider leaving a review. DLCs get far fewer reviews than games in general. For prospective buyers, being able to read the thoughts of another player can be so helpful.

Thank you and have fun!
