Update #8: Barracks and Pawnshops

Update 8 includes another great suggestion from our players - you can now buy back items sold to pawnshops. If you find a powerful weapon early in the game before your stats are high enough to make good use of it, sell it and come back for it when Kim is older. We've introduced a new way to earn money, it's less glamorous than the Allahabad Pioneer but working in the kitchen of Ferozepore’s barracks does have some (edible) perks! If that doesn't appeal, you might now be able to convince the lama to teach you how to draw the Wheel of Life! We’ve also been polishing the game’s art, keep an eye out for characters’ shadows, the pleasingly curvy travel line and zooming in on photos!

Changelist
v0.7.0 -> v0.8.0

New Stuff
- All characters and animals have procedural shadows and occlusion shadows
- There is a barracks in Ferozepore where Kim can work to earn money, if he works hard, he will get promoted
- After Kim has seen the lama draw the Buddhist Wheel of Life, he can ask him to teach him how to draw it, if he learns, he can draw it for other Buddhists
- Items that you buy in any pawnshop can be bought back at the same pawnshop at a later date for the same price
- You can click photos and they will enlarge and fade out the rest of the screen

Changes
- Wealth is divided by 20 instead of 10 to determine its contribution to total score - as a result of this and a couple scoring bugs, we’ve deleted some scores on the leaderboards
- A new and improved curving travel line replaces the old one on the map
- The Allahabad Pioneer no longer pays such high wages
- Kim always comes out of long stays in buildings (e.g. schools) in the morning
- HUD buttons flash slower and wait until previous animations have finished during conversations with the screen faded
- Kim’s minimum speed is limited by the fact the his Speed stat cannot fall below 1
- It’s no longer possible to sell food at pawnshops
- Some NPCs drop fewer items when killed
- NPCs insult Kim less frequently
- Delivery missions list their items in the objective description
- The Wealth chart on the results screen fills up slower
- The merit graph on the results screen now goes up to 2500
- Various UI elements polished
- Lots of conversations tweaked
- A few changes to improve performance
- We’ve been overhauling the pathfinding system and will continue doing so for our next update

Bug Fixes
- Wealth no longer counts rupees twice
- Opinion categories are all now capped at 100
- Permadeath can only be turned on and off when there is no active playthrough
- A signpost can no longer block Kim from entering Delhi
- Issues with context-sensitive buttons in suitcase fixed
- Reopening a trait info panel will work normally
- Tutorial labels aren’t visible over page turn animation
- Warrant typo in notification fixed

Our next game, Bon Vivant, does the same for a very different era: 1920s Paris, at the height of its golden age. Bon Vivant is a strategy game about hosting legendary dinner parties. Instead of exploring a map, you're discovering a social world. You can…Community2 Mar 2018v1.4: Improved CombatIn the words of the lama, Kim's faithful friend, this is for the "brawlers and swashbucklers" among us! We had some feedback from the community that certain combat missions weren't playing as smoothly as intended so we investigated and discovered a couple issues that we wanted to address. Our main focus has been to make it easier to plan attacks with the game paused and then unpause to let them…Community3 Jul 2017v1.3: Uncharted TerritoryIntrepid explorers! Our 3rd post-launch update has a new feature, which has been designed with you in mind, uncharted territory! From now on, Kim's map will begin covered and you will reveal it as you travel. As with the photo album, your progress in this area is not reset at the start of a new playthrough; this helps you plan where to go to meet new characters and discover new quests. If you h…
