Hello and welcome to another SourceWorld devlog! It's been just a month since our last devlog, however, we've been doing lots of various random progress. Everything about it is in the article. And for the last part, we'll talk about the planned release date for SourceWorld.
At some point in the game, player will be taken to a dangerous wasteland where they'll have to travel around using a vehicle and fight armored enemy transports.
We added a new musclecar with its own sound, different handling and some extras, like two mounted 50cal machine guns!
Firstperson driver camera was changed to a dynamic thirdperson one. Car has limited health and player is able to shoot its machineguns, although they can only shoot at front.
We changed map view in terminal to look less flat and somewhat 3D.
Inventory UI was redesigned to look more appealing, with better detailing and few extra animations.
Health indicator was slightly changed. Previous one looked too much like Max Payne, so it was decided to make some changes to it and improve animations. Heartbeat is now more noticeable at low health.
Previously there was an issue with the way how dropped enemy weapons gave too much advantage to the player, messing up progression and economy. This was changed by adding a weapon condition system. Each firearm now has a condition percentage which goes down with each shot. Weapons in poor condition will jam frequently or even have decreased stats up until the point of becoming very inconvenient to use.
A new item - weapon cleaning kit, will serve as a way to "repair" firearms. Although it won't be economically effective to use it on dropped weapons with their extremely poor condition. Players will be supposed to occasionally restore their weapons' condition before it gets worse. This also motivates to use melee weapons more often.
