Balance Changes
New Polisher Card: Squeaky Clean
A new card targeted at the Polisher was added. The card doubles the Polisher's operation speed at the cost of doubling the Polisher's price.
Ghosts
To balance out the difficulty of each challenge in Pure Chaos, the ghosts spawned by the Ghosts challenge have been adjusted.
- Ghost Movement Speed: 5 m/s > 10 m/s
- Time Between Seek Calls: 3s > 1.5s
- Time to Haunt Item: 2s > 1s
- Default Time Between Spawns: 15s > 7.5s
- Decreased Time Between Spawns per Challenge: 5s > 2.5s
In short, Ghosts will now spawn more frequently, move faster, and steal items faster. The time between each ghost spawn is reduced, but the effect of each additional ghost challenge is reduced. These changes were made in hopes of increasing the threat of ghosts in the early game, since they are almost no threat in the late game.
Falling Rocks
To balance out the difficulty of each challenge in Pure Chaos, the Fallings Rocks challenge has been adjusted.
- Rocks now spawn directly over a random player
- Default Time Between Spawns: 15s > 7.5s
- Decreased Time Between Spawns per Challenge: 5s > 2.5s
In short, Falling Rocks will spawn more frequently, but the effect of each additional falling rocks challenge is reduced. Falling rocks will spawn directly above a random player, forcing players to stay alert and move when necessary.
Stone Variants
The Stone Variants (Calcite, Granite, Limestone, Marble, and Stone) proved to be too weak compared to other sources of profit. As a result, the value of each Stone Variant item was increased slightly.
- Stone Variant Chunks Value: 2c > 3c
- Stone Variant Bricks Value: 6c > 8c
In short, Stone Variant items had their values increased in hopes of increasing their usefulness in runs.
Use Speed
Prior to this patch, the players' mining speed felt sluggish, which made it difficult to execute specific strategies. Also, the regular mining speed was incomparable to the speed of the "animation canceling" method that was discovered during Beta Testing.
- Attempting "animation canceling" now results in a cooldown equal to the duration of the amount of time "canceled"
- Time Between Uses: 1s > 0.83s
This creates a middle ground between those who use regular mining and those who use "animation canceling". This change was made in hopes of increasing the number of the players' potential strategies.
Rerolling
Prior to this patch, the rerolling system proved to be too expensive, even with easier difficulties. The price increased by 5 coins for each reroll, and the price only decreased after a round where players didn't use a reroll.
- The price increment amount now varies by difficulty. (Easy: 2c, Medium: 3c, Hard: 4c, Impossible: 5c)
- The price decreases after a round where players reroll less than 3 times
- When the price decreases, it decreases more when fewer rerolls are used
These changes were made to promote the rerolling system and make the difficulty level of each run more accurate to its set difficulty. Although rerolling is now cheaper, the price reduction system encourages players to limit how many rerolls they use each round.
