Are your pants buckled yet?! BattleBlock Theater’s Quality of Life Remaster releases as a free update to the game on Wednesday, April 1st! No, this isn’t some sick April Fool’s prank. The renovated, RE-CODED theater is almost ready to make its grand return! Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out the recent announcement stream here for all the juicy details:
Before we get this show on the road, there’s some important information we want to share with the community before we undergo some technical maintenance in preparation for the update. Let’s get to it, then!
BattleBlock Theater leaderboards will reset with the release of the Quality of Life Remaster, with a catch! A mysterious entity out there will retain your high scores, BUT you must open BattleBlock Theater after the update releases AND post to the leaderboards for your scores to repopulate on the leaderboards. Still, there might be some people that won’t log back in, meaning the leaderboards in their current state will be lost to time forever. Be sure to grab a pixelated screenshot of your current standings if you want to remember alllllll that time spent collecting gems, saving prisoners, drowning your best friend, and DYING. Or, just get a new high score! It’s easy, right?! There’s one more caveat, though – over 4,765,084 players are currently listed in the Global Ranking, which is a pretty cool accomplishment! THAT LEADERBOARD STAYS. Can we get up to five million players listed once the Remaster lands? What about TEN MILLION? The sky’s the limit here, truly!
This is a bit of a new one for us, so please bear with the big chicken! We’re moving the entire Steam inventory for BattleBlock Theater to a new system, which means the inventory and trading features for the game will be down from Monday, March 30th through Wednesday, April 1st. You will not be able to unlock or trade Prisoners and Weapon Tools during the technical maintenance. You can still earn gems and yarn, though! Additionally, all items currently up for buy or sell will be taken down, and these items will not be automatically put back up after the inventory migration. Are we resetting the local island economy??? Yippee! That’s all for now! Thanks so much for all your patience as we’ve worked through this pretty major change to BattleBlock Theater.
