Rogue Conflict, Update II

Greetings everyone, this time around I got an update that nobody asked for, Which is new "promotional art" or "capsule art" as steam likes to call it, for the game.

New Art:

The main reason for wanting to change the art for the game is very selfish one.
As the game's art is one of the few aspects of the game that i didn't do myself, and therefore it has always been an aspect of the game that I've always wished to change, just so I can say that even that part of the game was made by my own hands.

Original Art:

Another reason for wanting to change it, is that I've never been quite satisfied with how the original art turned out. I always felt that it didn't quite capture the tone and the soul of the game.

Which is not meant to discredit the artist who did the original art. He did an excellent job and the fault lies completely in my own hands.

Because when i had the art commissioned back in autumn last year, I didn't really have a clear idea in mind for what the art for the game should look like, and my attitude was very much that I wanted to spend as little time and energy as possible thinking about, so that I instead could put my time and focus on other aspects of the game's development.

Which in hindsight was a mistake.

So when i hired the guy to do the art, my instructions to him were very limited, and he pretty much only had the screenshots of the game in the steam store to go off.

So in other words it has been a thing that I've wanted to change for a long time, but I've never had the chance to do it during the game's development as I've always had more pressing concerns to work with, and only now after the game's release have I been able to give it the proper time and attention it deserves.

And now that I finally have it done, It feels like a huge weight off my back.

Other News:

I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that I'm still very much supporting Rogue Conflict post launch.

These days my work hours are split up 50/50 between RC and my next game.
But since the release of the first update for RC, my time allocated for it has been mainly spent on levelling up my skills as an artist (painting, drawing and stuff like that), as originally I was planning on drawing the new art for the game entirely myself, from scratch.
And I Actually started on a piece that I was planning on using, but after working on it for quite some time I decided to stop, because I felt that it would take too much time to draw the image I had in mind, and the quality just wasn't there.
Which is why I instead went for this approach of taking photos that were in the public domain and editing them, and making them look a bit more stylised.
Which is an approach that I'm more familiar with.

So I wanted you all to know that I'm still keeping tabs on RC and I check the Discord and steam forums daily still. So if there are any bugs or other requests you have feel free to post them there and I will see to them.

As for future updates for the game, I'm not quite sure yet.
I know this update is not what anyone wanted or asked for, and is a very egotistical one (but also something that will hopefully help with the game's future promotions).

But I am planning on being a part of the upcoming steam Wargame festival that takes place soon in the end of April.
And depending on how well the game performs there, I will take that into consideration when I work on future updates for the game.

So anyway, that is all I have for you this time. I hope you like the new art, and happy playing.

Kind Regards, Rogue Conflict developer, Frans Wikman

The big new feature alongside all the regular tweaks and bug fixes in this update, are the new difficulty options. You can now choose between "easy" and "standard" difficulty.
