ALPHA 4.0 UPDATE

Hey everyone 👋 It’s been a while since the last major update, and I want to thank you for your patience. Over the past few months, I’ve been working on some really ambitious systems and features, and I major reworks on two maps. A lot of this has been tested on experimental branches with your help, and now it’s time to roll it all into a proper update.

🎬 Watch the December Update Trailer

This update focuses on 4 big pillars:

  • Expanding the Spot Builder into a true creative tool

  • Deeply improving parkour & locomotion to match the level of the tricking and freefall system

  • Connecting everything together (tricks and moves) to make the game less punishing

  • Polish the existing maps to match the level of the tricking and freefall system

Let’s dive in.

Spot Builder – A New Level of Creativity

The Spot Builder has received a major upgrade, allowing you to create more natural, varied, and expressive maps.

New Custom Element Properties

  • Certain Spot Builder elements now support custom materials

  • You can change materials, colors, and shader parameters per element

  • A brand-new controller-friendly color picker has been implemented from scratch

  • All custom parameters are saved in the map JSON

This opens the door to much more unique-looking maps and removes the “samey” feel from repeated assets.

New Materials & Shaders

  • New triplanar shader to hide texture tiling

  • More consistent materials across rocks, blobs, slabs, and terrain pieces

  • Improved visual cohesion and realism

New Elements

  • Added organic patches to create more natural-looking terrain

  • Rope Swing is now a Spot Builder element (movable & scalable)

New Feature: Rope Swing

A fun “side quest” that turned into a full feature.

  • New Rope Swing mechanic available via the Spot Builder

  • Walk into the handle to grab it

  • Automatically transitions to freefall at full extension of the rope

  • Grab with both hands and release each hand independently

  • Fully compatible with tricks and freefall control

This system was built from scratch, and the rope implementation should open the door to future rappel mechanics

Freefall Improvements

Freefall Stabilizer

  • Hold Left Stick Click to activate procedural stabilization

  • The game assists arm and leg positioning to help you:

    • Stay balanced

    • Reduce unwanted twisting

    • Land high-rotation flips more consistently (including sextuples)

This is a game-changer for control without removing player liberty of movement

Parkour & Locomotion Overhaul

The gap between tricking quality and locomotion has been shrinking fast.

New Parkour Jump System

  • Hold and release LT / RT / both to perform parkour jumps

  • Jump distance depends on how long you hold

  • Chain jumps freely

  • Release inputs to stick landings

  • Flip out of parkour jumps:

    • One-leg landing → Complete (swing-capable)

    • Two-leg landing → Punch

Wall & Climbing Interactions

  • Parkour jumps can land in:

    • Cat Leap (braced or free hang)

    • Wall splat

  • From braced hang:

    • Move left/right

    • Climb up (A)

    • Drop down (B)

    • Castaway (LB + RB + down flick)

Movement Polish

  • Reworked quick start running

  • Added step & turn animations for sharp direction changes

  • Added quick turn when standing still

  • Fixed multiple small locomotion issues

Climbing is now performed with A (LT/RT are reserved for jumping).

Trick System Updates

New & Reworked Tricks

  • Atwist

  • Double Atwist

  • Arabian

  • Arabian Semi

  • Arabian Mega

  • Cheat 9

  • Cheat 9 Hyper

  • Cheat 12

  • Cheat 12 Hyper

  • Cheat 14

  • Cheat 12 Knife

  • Tak Full

  • Castaway

Better Transitions & Flow

The goal fully connect all the tricks even if the transitions are considered like bad transitions in tricking (like Reverse Pop, ex : landing both legs from a cork and then lift the right leg first to perform a second cork) and give possibilities to trick from more situations, running, jumping, etc

  • More tricks available from punch landings, hyper landings, and running around

Maps & Visual Updates

Cenote Rework

  • Major visual and layout pass

  • More realistic terrain

  • More trees and foliage

  • Reduced height from 50m to about 30m for more realism

  • New waterfall

  • More detail

Hooked Map Update

  • Reworked for the 10th anniversary of the Hooked Tournament

  • Added more detail and realism

  • Gym area opened for warm-ups before hitting the main stage

Thank You ❤️

I’ve spent years trying to build the best flipping game possible, and this update brings me much closer to that vision. The support since going paid Early Access has been incredibly motivating and helps funds the remaining development.

If you enjoy the game, sharing it with friends helps more than you might think. If you find bugs and glitches or you have suggestions on how to improve the game feel free to send your feedback on discord.
And if you’re on PC, getting the game early will save you a few bucks before future price increases 😉

As always, thank you for being part of this journey.
