A more living world

QANGA · published 12 Jun 2025, 18:01 UTC

The solar system of QANGA is vast, fully explorable, and made possible by our custom Worldscape plugin, which allows for large-scale generation of planets and moons.

If you missed our deep dive into how it works, now’s a great time to catch up: A more vibrant solar system

But vast, empty worlds aren’t enough. Our next goal: bringing them to life.

🏚️ Cities, one district at a time

The team is currently building a new location generation system, designed to create complex environments from handcrafted modular components. This tool allows us to rapidly produce credible, lived-in areas, with strong visual and structural cohesion.

Let’s take our current work on shantytowns as an example:

  • We start by designing individual houses, each with several interior layouts (currently 4 per house).

  • These houses are then combined into districts, with their own layouts and atmosphere.

  • Finally, we assemble these districts into fully-formed cities, placed across different planets and moons.

🛠️ A work in progress

This system is still in active development, and the current visuals don’t reflect the final quality. But it marks an important milestone in the evolution of QANGA: enabling you to land on a distant moon and stumble upon an abandoned colony, a makeshift market, or a crumbling city, each with its own secrets.

As a bonus, here are a few images of the house interiors, districts, and cities currently in development:

And as an extra extra bonus, here's some pics of a recently abandoned bunker that is currently being developed:

💬 We’d love your feedback

This kind of content will have a direct impact on your exploration experience, as well as on missions, encounters, loot, and even the game’s sound design.

And we're not stopping there. Other systems are also being reworked behind the scenes, including a full mission overhaul that we'll share more about soon.

As always, your feedback is essential to help us shape what's next. See you soon for more updates on QANGA’s evolution!
