Hello,

To those of you who have gotten a bit lost on the internet, I would like to share this with you.

2013, Prototyping with UDK

Twelve years ago, I was unemployed, living with my parents, and incidentally had a strong desire to express myself. I decided to embark on a crazy venture: playing video games all day. My ambition was so great that it began to affect inanimate objects. My coffee ordered me to brush my teeth because my breath was killing it. For your information, I didn't drink coffee at that time. To be honest, a few CVs did escape from my email inbox, but playing was better.

In fact, a little game that came out of nowhere had reinforced this idea. It had an amateur look, it smelled of DIY and sincerity. I had reported bugs on the game's forum and exchanged with its developer. Tower of Guns and Joe Mirabello, I pay tribute to you here.

So, during the summer of 2013, I discovered the UDK, the development kit for Unreal Engine 3 (no Unreal Engine 4 yet), which was used to create Tower of Guns. After a good month, I sent the initial version to my friends. I learned at their expense that the acceptable difficulty for the developer is not the same for the players. They hated me.

PJS or "Project Jump Street" because the initial idea was to be in a straight street, moving forward without stopping and facing enemies while always jumping. The first level is a somewhat blurry reflection of this idea.

The prototype received updates for two years, until:

2015, Start of the Syndeo Project

The prototype is built on the basis of Unreal Tournament 3, its code, and its assets.
Hundreds of hours and three levels later, I asked myself this question: what's stopping me from replacing all the assets from Unreal Tournament with my own?

March 1, 2015, marked the end of the development of Project Jump Street and the start of a new project rising from the prototype's ashes: Syndeo-Complex.

Some pictures from the first hours of development.

2025, I Have Something to Say

Yesterday was March 1, 2025. I have a job and I drink coffee. And also, happy 10th anniversary, Syndeo.

Have a great day,
ddzev

PS: A new version is coming soon.
