Procedural dungeons that regenerate daily, explosive bomb creatures, floating damage numbers, and sunflower fairies that dance to the music. Plus, we're catching you up on a massive backlog of features that shipped without a proper announcement.

What's New This Patch

  • Procedural Dungeons - mysterious dungeon entrances now appear throughout the world each day! Every area has random glowing portals that lead to unique, procedurally generated dungeons built from stone corridors, chambers, and crypts. Bark at the entrance to open it and discover your hidden mission inside. Goals range from epic (clear all enemies, defeat the dungeon boss, survive enemy waves) to silly (chase a bouncing ball, rescue trapped puppies, bark at glowing markers to claim your territory). Dungeons get harder in later areas and scale to your experience. Complete a dungeon and it seals for the day; come back tomorrow for fresh adventures with new layouts and new goals!
  • Bomb Creatures - adorable little bombs that pack a punch! Some sit quietly until provoked, others idle until you wander too close, and the bravest ones roam around looking for you. Once activated, they light up and chase you down. When they catch you, they flash a warning before exploding in a big area blast. The explosion gets stronger as you level up, so stay on your toes! You can fight back and destroy them before they blow if you're quick enough
  • Floating Damage Numbers - every hit now shows a floating damage number above enemies! Numbers are color-coded by attack type: white for bites, steel blue for the longsword, orange for the great axe, brown for the stick, purple for bolt attacks, and teal for your raven companion. Critical hits pop in with a big gold number and extra flair. Damage-over-time effects show green ticks. Can be toggled off in settings
  • Dancing Sunflower Fairies - little flower fairies now dance to the actual music! They analyze the audio in real time: bass-heavy beats make them spin and groove, bright melodies trigger dramatic spell-casting poses and petal blowing, and they bounce on every beat. Louder, more intense music makes them dance faster and more frantically. Mute the music and they get drowsy: they nod off, look around confused, try to start dancing but give up, and sometimes sink down for a nap. Turn the music back on and they pop awake with excitement! They also follow the day/night cycle; when dusk falls they slowly sink down and sleep through the night, then pop back up at dawn
  • Now Playing Visualizer - the Music tab now shows a real-time audio visualizer! Frequency bars dance along with the soundtrack and a wolf paw icon pulses on every beat. Song titles and artist names are now displayed too
  • Heat Exhaustion - the scorching volcanic heat at Emberpaw Peak now saps your stamina when you're out in the open. Seek shade under overhangs and inside caves to catch your breath and recover. Plan your route carefully!
  • Lava Rising Events - the lava in Emberpaw Peak now periodically surges upward, flooding lower platforms. A rumbling earthquake and raven warning give you time to scramble to high ground. Every surge is different: sometimes a gentle rise, sometimes a towering flood. The longer you stay, the more aggressive the eruptions become. Watch out for two-stage surges that pause halfway then blast higher, and fakeout recedes where the lava drops as if retreating then roars back up
  • Crystal Caves Expanded - a massive new cavern area has been added to the Crystal Caves, guarded by bomb creatures
  • Dungeon Expanded - new rooms have been added to the final dungeon area

Highlights from Previous Updates

A ton of features have gone in since launch that never got a proper announcement. Here's the full rundown!

  • Primal Instincts Talent Tree - 21 wolf-themed talents across 3 branches: Fangs (combat), Paws (survival), and Howl (utility). Earn XP from defeating enemies, level up, and spend talent points. Press N to open
  • Rescue Puppies - 70 lost puppies hidden across all 7 areas! Rescue them with E and they become companion NPCs that follow you around, do silly idles, "attack" enemies for 1 damage then flee barking, and run zoomies while you sleep
  • Area Challenges - rotating optional challenges across 4 categories: Combat, Exploration, Silly, and Endurance. Bone rewards scale with difficulty and your completion streak
  • Raven Companion Corvus - a loyal raven companion with 9 behaviors. Corvus perches nearby, sleeps when you sleep, alerts you to enemies, points toward objectives, and delivers mana potions when you run low
  • Guided Tutorial - 18-step hands-on tutorial narrated by Corvus. Resumes where you left off
  • Final Boss: The Shadow Keep - a 3-phase Lich boss fight with shield crystals, spells, and environmental hazards. Defeat the Lich and melt the ice to rescue your human
  • Timing-Based Blocking - hold RMB to block; better timing means more damage blocked (Perfect 90%, Great 65%, Good 40%, Holding 20%)
  • Combo System - consecutive hits build your combo counter. Higher combos earn rewards: x5 heals, x7 restores stamina, x10 triggers an Ultimate Combo
  • Scent Memory System - sniff special spots to trigger narrative text with dog-perspective storytelling and ghost echoes
  • Dynamic Weather - Clear, Overcast, Rain, Storm, and Fog cycle throughout the day. Lightning flashes during storms. Weather varies by season
  • Seasonal World - the world changes with real-world dates: 4 seasons and 6 dog-themed holidays with decorations, ambient particles, daily login bonuses, scavenger hunts, and shop discounts
  • Dreamscape Features - gravity shift zones, illusion walls you can sniff through, Dream Howl ability to freeze enemies, and memory replay puzzles
  • Celestial Sky - procedural sun, moon with real lunar phases, twinkling starfield, and random sky events (shooting stars, comets, auroras, meteor showers, phoenix trails)
  • NPC Shop - spend coins on permanent upgrades: Health, Stamina, Mana, Armor, Speed, and more
  • Map System - live-rendered maps with fog of war, compass labels, discovery markers, parchment treasure map effect, and a radial quick-travel menu (hold U)
  • Skeleton Archers - ranged enemies that maintain distance, strafe, and fire arrows with gravity arcs
  • Breakable Objects and Arrow Traps - smash through vines, dirt walls, and crates; dodge wall-mounted arrow traps
  • Equipment and Armor - tracked weapons and helms with stat bonuses and damage reduction
  • Progress Tracker - press P to view per-area completion and see what to unlock next
  • Sniff Visual Enhancements - golden sonar pulse, "scent vision" post-processing, beacon columns, glowing nose, and sparkle burst

  • Per-Area Atmosphere - each area has unique color grading, bloom, and temperature
  • Dynamic Wind - organic gusts that scale with weather
  • Screen Shake and Hit Freeze - camera shake on hits, brief time freeze on crits (togglable)
  • Graphics Settings - 10 toggle options plus quality presets
  • Save Profile Cards - parchment-themed cards showing playtime and progress
  • Steam Achievements - achievements for defeating the Lich and rescuing your human

Improvements

  • Combat feel - enemies move smoothly with no teleporting or wall-phasing; graduated stealth (sneaking reduces detection instead of full invisibility)
  • Replayability - enemy stats vary randomly; enemies scale with your progress; lucky double-drop coin chance
  • Last Stand - below 20% HP you gain bonus damage; "ARMOR SAVED YOU!" notification when armor saves your life
  • Kill rewards - stamina restored on kills; multi-kill notifications (DOUBLE KILL, TRIPLE KILL, etc.)
  • Bone pickup magnetism - bones slide toward you when nearby
  • XP popups - rising gold numbers that stack; dramatic level-up celebration
  • Clock synced with the day/night sky; time of day saves between sessions
  • Loading screen tips overhauled for accuracy

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed attack input lockup that could cause clicks to stop responding
  • Fixed player losing control after cutscenes and boss intros
