Thank you for diving into CODEX MORTIS! We've been blown away by the response since our Early Access launch — your feedback has been invaluable.
This first hotfix focuses on improving input handling, UI navigation, and overall readability across the game. Here's what's changed:
- Added input throttling for gamepad and keyboard navigation. Holding D-pad / analog stick / WASD / arrow keys now scrolls continuously across UI, accelerating over time (from 0.33s down to 0.12s after the 6th repeat).
- Character Hub: holding Up / Down now correctly moves through left and right columns as one unified navigation flow.
- Character Hub: added Start shortcut to begin the game. In multiplayer, Start will not trigger if the controller is not assigned to any player. Likewise, Ctrl + Arrow keys are now consumed for join input and no longer scroll menus.
- Improved cursor logic between mouse and gamepad / keyboard: mouse movement always cancels gamepad / keyboard selection, gamepad / keyboard input always cancels mouse hover selection, gamepad / keyboard navigation starts from the last mouse-selected element.
- Options Menu: updated active category styling for clearer distinction from hover state.
- Options Menu: holding D-pad / analog now works correctly on sliders.
- Added left/right wrapping navigation to all card-based menus: levels, difficulty selection, skills, categories, level-up cards.
- Added minimap scaling.
- HUD improvements: reduced duplicated map objective information, more gameplay space, cleaner overall UI readability.
- Improved achievement hover visibility.
- General navigation fixes in Character Hub between left and right sections.
- Improved overall text scaling and text sizes across the entire game.
- Fixed right stick / Shift navigation: proper up/down movement between sections, fixed left/right jumping across full sections (previously section traversal was incomplete).
