Hello Adapters!

April has been a busy month for us! Adapt had the opportunity to take part in multiple events and show off our creatures to a wide audience. Let’s dive into this month’s round-up and see what exactly were we up to!

April Steam Events

First we kicked off the month as part of the Earth Appreciation Festival 2025, to celebrate our beautiful planet Earth and the home to millions of years of evolution. We even got to join in on the event showcase video!
Here’s our section in the showcase on our YouTube channel, with Adapt’s solo developer Paul briefly covering what’s next for the game:

We also participated in the London Games Festival which showcased many popular released titles and promising upcoming projects. It’s our pleasure to be displayed alongside so many incredible games and share our work with all the passionate gamers from the UK.

A Small Update

We released a minor patch earlier in April, to iron out some issues reported in player feedback. It also changed how tutorial pops up on the screen to make it more intuitive for newer players. Hopefully that makes everyone’s evolution experience smoother than before!

Community Creations

Now for our monthly creature showcase – our discord community submitted some truly outlandish species!

To begin with, we have a traumatised cyclops from Cat. It is actually a submission in March but we think it deserves some love for whatever it has been through that gives it the thousand-yard stare. It definitely has seen some stuff, too much perhaps.

Next, we have the latest experiment (No. 14) from Rumi. Truly nightmare fuel material this one. There’s even a rather terrifying gif on the Discord channel with all the body parts (including the mouth on the chest) moving. Sadly it’s too big scary for Steam so if you’d like to see it, check out our Discord server!

And finally, Sir Epik’s Caranyx. Doesn’t seem particularly scary at first glance, but what really makes it special is the detailed lore written by its creator. Here are some of snippets of the features and habits of this creature:

  • A medium-sized creature similar to hippos and capybaras
  • A diet of plants and supplemented by bugs
  • Lives in dingy rainforest water-bodies in groups
  • Not very impressive – not that big, not that smart, and no defensive features
  • Sound like kakapos

And on that note, that’s the end of this month’s update. Thanks for reading, and if you would like to share your own bizarre creations, be sure to hop on our Discord server . Check out Twitter, TikTok and YouTube for more news to Adapt!
