Hey everyone,

After a series of major updates earlier in August, we took a brief step back polish some of the new major additions and improvements. And so today, we're releasing a smaller update, version 0.40, which includes a number of fixes and improvements across the board.

Some highlights include significant enhancements to lighting and graphics, particularly with a new setting for darker monitors. NOTE: for optimal visuals - current players should open the Options menu, and make sure the V-Sync is On, and Extra Bloom is Off. We've also reworked the early game to make it more accessible for new players.

With that said, let’s take a look at what our sixth update (v0.40) has in store:

  • Improvements to RTS game light and fog effect
  • Fixed RTS game light being too bright and bloomy on most monitors
  • Added new Options Menu options - Extra Bloom, off by default
  • Extra Bloom makes the game a lot brighter on darker monitors
  • Campaign map light is also affected by Extra Bloom settings
  • V-Sync is now on by default
  • V-Sync and Extra Bloom options need to be turned on/off by current players
  • Major fix for cannons not attacking walls
  • Rebalanced starting campaign economy
  • New campaign starts with a lot more resources
  • New campaigns start with a lot more food making the very early game a lot easier
  • Economy research does not require food, but requires more other resources
  • Player starting army has 2 chickens and 2 horse carts now
  • Livestock and peasants generate more food per month
  • Spring Oak trees look the same as summer now - as previous version looked very bad
  • Personal time limit greatly expanded allowing players more time in the cities
  • All new campaigns now start with a lot more personal time
  • Personal time adds much faster monthly in early campaigns - to help players with managing towns in RTS mode
  • Personal time adds slower and slower each month as campaign progresses
  • Tutorial campaign now starts with maxed-out personal time of 15 minutes
  • Build the hamlet tutorial greatly improved with additional time
  • Fixed on-boarding window overlapping speed control in RTS tutorials
