New Gameplay & Equipment!

Hello everyone!

We're celebrating our first anniversary of Midnight Heist and have a new update for you!

Just in time for the spookiest time of the year, we have brought you a big gameplay update. This update is part 1 of a total of 2, as some things didn't make it due to time constraints. Nevertheless, we have developed a lot of new gameplay features and even unlocked the equipment with this update. Let's start with this one right away!

Equipment

There are now a total of 9 individual items with their own functions, with more to come in future updates.

In addition to your perks and modules on the tablet, you will now also see a new menu called “Equipment” on the workbench. Here you can equip yourself with items for your heists, at least one of which is always included so that you are able to complete the new tasks.

What you currently have equipped for the upcoming heist is displayed in the mission overview as “Loadout”. Every player is able to buy and add items.

All the equipment you have added to your arsenal for the heist can be seen in the new redesigned van at the start. Along with this come two tables on which all your available equipment for this heist is placed, which you can switch back and forth at any time.

It is now possible to carry 4 items at the same time, of which the smartphone is always equipped by default. By default you can also use the “G” button to drop equipped items, for example to pick up other items.

Objectives

In addition to the main objective of hacking computers, there are now additional, randomly selected main tasks each round, which are displayed in your mission overview.

For the new tasks, we have always written instructions on how to complete these tasks. Depending on the number of players, an additional main task will be added for each additional player. The rest are optional bonus tasks.

Each task requires a specific item to solve it, sometimes even several. It is therefore advisable to look at the tasks in advance to know what you need. Each additional task will bring a fixed reward of €500!

At this point, it might seem like a step back in terms of item functionality, as we've split them all up and transferred them to different items. For example, the smartphone can no longer take photos and the flashlight no longer has a UV light, but this decision opens a huge door for future updates in terms of upgrades. We also have a lot more options for perks that we didn't have before. We are convinced that we will introduce a very motivating upgrade system in the near future, which will be a lot of fun and super rewarding. It is also likely that the functions will return depending on the upgrades.

To keep the excitement high, we will let you explore the new tasks for yourself rather than describing them here. We'll just say this much: some of them require brains, others precision. There's a bit of everything and there will be even more in the future.

With the addition of the new items, we have also added “special” loot that sits behind glass in addition to normal loot and the Black Market items. You can smash the glass to steal the randomly placed loot behind it.

Further changes and adjustments

  • It is now possible to see Inuva on the tablet through the cameras
  • Dead players can now communicate with each other as ghosts
  • Light switches now have a short cooldown to prevent desynchronization

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a case where the speed of the entities was calculated wrong in black market missions
  • Fixed some positions you could get stuck in

More

Halloween has also made it back to Midnight City, adding a spooky yet cozy atmosphere to the lobby. We are even currently working on new skins, which we also want to release very soon.

We are really looking forward to your feedback!

As a small note to conclude the devlog: Our German-speaking partner streamer MadMiez will be streaming Midnight Heist on October 31, 2024 (Halloween) around 5pm , introducing the new update and giving away keys for the game. If you are interested and have time, you are cordially invited to drop by!

Game update28 Jun 2026Changes & Bug fixes - 28.06.2026Hello everyone! We're really happy that you've all liked the update so far. We've received some great feedback from you once again, so we jumped right back to work and made some adjustments designed to make your lives easier, especially when it comes to the new features. Fusion of Modules It wasn't immediately clear how fusioning modules worked, which caused some frustration. That was entirely…In-game event26 Jun 2026Quality of Life, Modules 2.0, Engine & MoreHello everyone! The time has finally come: update 1.1 is finally live. And let us say this right off the bat: quite a bit more content made it into the update. Let's go through everything step by step. Upgrading to Unity 6 This was the biggest hurdle of them all. Midnight Heist was running on an older version of Unity, and that was holding us back. To use more modern tools, to gain real stabili…Community6 May 2026Modules, Engine & More | Update NewsHello everyone! Many of you, just like us, are looking forward to new updates for Midnight Heist. We’ve been transparent with you so far about the fact that the revenue from the game hasn’t been enough to keep us up and running, so we’ve had to take on new projects (admittedly, it was also really good for our mental health to have a change of pace and try something new). We had and still have n…
