Hello everyone!

Many of you, just like us, are looking forward to new updates for Midnight Heist. We’ve been transparent with you so far about the fact that the revenue from the game hasn’t been enough to keep us up and running, so we’ve had to take on new projects (admittedly, it was also really good for our mental health to have a change of pace and try something new). We had and still have numerous ideas for Midnight Heist, and we promised you that there would be more content, so we have some good news for you.

Upgrading the engine version

That’s the biggest hurdle: Midnight Heist was running on an older version of Unity. To use more modern tools and, above all, to gain greater stability and more possibilities, we had to upgrade Midnight Heist to the latest version of Unity… and we did!

In fact, the current developer version runs on the latest Unity 6 engine and is running pretty much bug-free. It’s still possible that we’ll initially receive more bug reports than usual, but the benefits here are much greater, and we’ll be able to fix the bugs promptly.

Co-op Network Code

As you know, there have been some crashes and general issues in multiplayer. It doesn't happen all the time, and it's mostly an issue with weaker connections, but we've made it our mission to completely overhaul the netcode. We've identified and fixed quite a few bugs, improved connection performance, and prevented crashes. Overall, we can say that the co-op experience should be much more stable now.

Co-op rewards have been adjusted

Previously, loot was simply divided equally among the number of players. Now we’re using a different calculation that’s less punishing for bringing friends along on a heist. It will always be more lucrative to collect the loot on your own, but it’s much more enjoyable in a group now.

Teaser for new content

This is the part most of you have been waiting for. Of course, in addition to the extensive technical changes and improvements, we also have new content for you.

Remember: Everything is still in active development

Modules 2.0
Modules as you knew them still exist, but they’ve been revamped and, most importantly, expanded. There’s now a new rarity tier called “Black Market.” This is the new, highest tier for modules, and it comes with a special feature: every Black Market module receives a random perk synergy.

Perk Synergy
Black Market modules apply a random bonus to a random perk (including those that are not equipped). This bonus ranges from 10% to a whopping 50% and enhances the perks. For example, let’s say you have the Stamina perk at level 3, which gives you 100% more stamina. If you now get a module with a 50% perk bonus, you won’t have 100% more stamina, but 150%. And this applies to all perks that aren’t boolean (on or off, e.g., more inventory slots).

Module Upgrades with Limit Breakers
You can now upgrade modules as well. Each module can be upgraded up to 5 times, with one attribute being randomly selected and improved each time. During this process, you may exceed the maximum value of an attribute, which becomes what is known as a ”limit-breaker” and is marked with a gold star.

Modules on the black market
Modules are now also available on the black market, and they change daily, just like the prices of black market items. The chance of obtaining rare modules is slightly higher here, but the price is much higher. This is intended to provide a fairer way to acquire better modules.

Visual Overhaul
The look and feel has also been improved, both in terms of usability and design. In addition to the new module overview, there are also new animations for printing modules.
