Hello everyone, nice to meet you!

I'm Stephan, and together with Felix, we're responsible for turning game ideas into code and bringing the world of Lost Legions to life. It's an exciting journey, and I’m thrilled to share some behind-the-scenes updates with you.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been developing the map system, an important component that manages regions and their ownership. This system will form the backbone of much of the gameplay, providing players with opportunities to explore, conquer, and defend various territories.

In Lost Legions, the discovery, conquest, and defense of regions will play a significant role. Owning a region grants players the ability to expand their base and unlock special benefits unique to that particular area. These advantages might include access to rare resources, strategic positions, or other game-changing features that help the player along their journey.

However, owning territory comes with its own set of challenges. Player-owned regions can be vulnerable to enemy raids, so it’s vital to fortify them with enough defenses. Managing these defenses while expanding your controlled area will be key to success in the game. We’re designing this system to offer players a good mix of strategy and action, making sure that every decision carries weight.

While Felix and I have been working on the core mechanics behind this system, our teammate Tim has been busy prototyping some of the user interface (UI) elements. Some of these will for example be used to notify players when the ownership of a village changes or when they enter a new region. It is important for us that the UI stays informative yet non-intrusive, making sure players stay updated without feeling overwhelmed.

In fact, I believe that a well-crafted UI, one that keeps the player informed about what’s happening in the game world without distracting from the gameplay, is often an underappreciated aspect of game design. So we’re dedicating a lot of time to refining this balance to make sure we achieve this vision.

I’m excited to continue sharing parts of our development journey with you. Stay tuned for our upcoming blog posts where we’ll dive more deeply into specific aspects of Lost Legions, including combat mechanics, resource management, and more.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Stephan

I’ve been too busy in the pixel mines over the last couple of months. About two weeks ago, we had an all-hands-on-deck meeting with our team, which normally works remotely, and it was so energising that I couldn’t wait to write about it here. The reason we met wasn’t necessarily a good one. With a launch da…Community17 Apr 2026Dev Blog 47Hey everyone, Before we jump into this week’s update, we first want to say thank you.
