Crafting (Coming in the next update)

The upcoming update will introduce several new systems, remove outdated ones, and enhance others. While we polish and test these changes, I’d like to start sharing details about what’s coming. As the title suggests, the first spotlight is on Crafting.

I set out to create a crafting system that seamlessly integrates with the game’s environment and enhances gameplay with unique, lore-friendly elements. This system aligns with the game’s narrative and complements other mechanics. Players will need to craft essential items like power supplies, fuses, medicine, and more. As development progresses, additional blueprints will be introduced, expanding the range of craftable items.

How does the system work?
Each blueprint requires three distinct resources to craft. These resources can be found scattered throughout the map—on shelves, on the floor, and in other locations. Every resource is physics-based, meaning you’ll need to physically pick them up and carry them to the crafting machine. Once there, you drop the resources into the machine’s intake hopper, where they are added to its inventory. After gathering all the required materials, simply press the crafting button, and the crafted item will be dispensed from the machine’s output hopper.

What can you create?
Currently, you can craft Power Supplies, Power Fuses, one type of Medicine, and an Incinerator Tank. As the game evolves, additional items will be added, such as cures for new illnesses and components for other systems.

What is the end goal of this system?
The crafting system is central to mission completion, but it also supports and enhances other gameplay systems. For instance, if your character is knocked out repeatedly, you might develop vision issues that require a special crafted item to cure. This interplay is designed to make the system both functional and immersive.

What is the current state of the system?
The system is fully functional and highly flexible, allowing new blueprints to be added with ease. While the core mechanics are complete and unlikely to change during further development, updates and bug fixes will continue to refine the experience.

This version is a complete upgrade from the original version in every area. The initial plan was to just keep polishing and do a final release, but I decided to give people a bit more time to check out the game and hopefully attract some more players.
