The Gentle Art of Making Enemies

Another week down, another week closer to launch.

This week, we cooked up some additional enemies for your fighting pleasure. Even though we had a good variety to begin with, it never hurts to have more, and these last few additions make sense for GunSpectre.

The overall process for adding enemies to GunSpectre is pretty straightforward. It typically starts with a placeholder in a mostly empty space. From there, we work out movements and attacks. One of the fun things about this process is that we often manually control the enemy to figure out the basics.

If everyone is happy with the results, the movements and attacks will be automated, and we'll give the enemy proper visuals. After that, it gets dropped in the game for testing and adjustments. This part of the process can get sticky depending on how complex the enemy is, but we always see it through to the end.

The road ahead is much shorter than the road behind. We hope you're looking forward to wiping out the bad guys when GunSpectre is released in the second quarter!

Until next time!

You can now fight, explore, and survive in the world of GunSpectre! GunSpectre started off as a hobby project that bore little resemblance to the game you see in front of you today. Many months were spent tinkering and experimenting until we landed on this being a mostly non-linear action game. Locking down an audio and visual style also took qui…Community5 Mar 2023The Scenic RouteHope everyone has had a good couple of weeks since the last log. We would have shared more, but much of the stuff we've been doing lately has been heavy on spoilers! What I can share today is that we have been adding in brief scenes to GunSpectre. These will pop up at key moments such as the start of the game, visiting a new area for the first time, and few other places. They are short, sweet,…
