It’s been nearly half a year since we released our game. We’ve been blown away by everyone’s kind words! Here are just a few of the write ups we’ve grown to cherish.
“Sets a new standard for the visual novel.” - The Washington Post
- “What elevates “If Found...” to the status of a masterpiece is its interface and art design. For much of the game, the cursor on your mouse serves as an eraser which you use to scrub away scenes and text to uncover fresh examples of both. […] This technique, used by Impressionist painter Claude Monet, conveys how things acquire other resonances when viewed under contrasting conditions.”
An essential game about letting go of the past. -Wired
- “If Found… a story that feels grounded in real wisdom about the loss that creates change, about the way finding yourself can mean letting a lot of other things go. If Found … knows how important it is to see yourself and to be seen plainly, and it shows that sometimes the best way to see an image clearly is to erase it and start from scratch.”
“An essential visual novel” -PocketGamer, 4.5/5
- “It's this overwhelming empathy – the game's unconditional love for its people and setting – that carries it towards excellence. If Found... paints a full and vibrant picture of a young woman at a pivotal point in her life, fit with the devastating lows and ethereal highs that give it balance and make Kasio's story essential and illuminating.”
- “I knew within the first few minutes that it was going to be something truly special, earning a place in my favourite games of all time. The art from Liadh Young is stunning, the music sounds and feels like a dream and its story is unique, provocative and wonderful. Very few video games have made a true and permanent mark on my heart, but If Found… has done just that.”
“Erases a Past to Make Way for the Future” -Indie Games+
- “If Found...’s powerful destruction of the self and memory makes its moments resonate with the heart all the stronger through this burial. I know that these things must be purged for Kasio to move forward, but for now, these moments burn in the heart, stinging keenly as she becomes the person she needs to be at the end of it all.”
We’ve been hard at work preparing for our latest release. We’re excited to announce that you can find our game on the Switch tomorrow! This means we've got a bunch of updates for our other players!
While we developed our Switch port, we went through the game and polished, polished, polished. While the story remains the same, we added a couple of tweaks and added several improvements. We added new art, tweaked the epilogue, and added some additions during the start of the climax. The largest change we made was moving each of the character’s diary moments to their own chapter with new beautiful art. We truly believe this is the best version of the game and we’re so excited to release it soon in November on Steam for you all.
The most exciting project this summer was collaborating with one of our favourite ever singers on a closing track. We always wanted to close the game to credits with a banger and now we have it! Listen to “If Found (Return to)”, our brand new expanded credits song, with vocals by Loah, music by 2 Mello, and lyrics by Llaura. Check out our beautiful lyric video below:
