It is finally time for a playtest! I think it goes without saying that no game can be balanced and release-ready without testing. The whole team is looking forward to your feedback (and bug reports ːarchduckː).
We want to use the Steam Playtest backend for this. We’ve never used it before, so we will all see how it works out, but on paper, it looks like a pretty easy and cool system. Sign-ups for the beta should be live now on the Hellcard II store page.
On Wednesday the 19th at 11:00 AM UTC, we will start granting access. We will be letting players in over several waves. The idea is that this will give us fresh feedback on the improvements and fixes we'll keep adding during the test.
Everyone who gets access will be able to invite up to three friends and give them instant beta access as well. This way, you can bring your co-op party into the beta even if they didn't sign up or don't get access in the same wave.
The test will last until September 2nd.
We came up with a game mode that will allow newcomers to ease in and Hellcard veterans to ramp up the difficulty, all while testing the content from the Blackmail Manor adventure.
The mode is called Soul Heist. The backstory is that the heroes fought through the dungeon, broke into the Lich's cache of treasures, and now have to grab cursed loot and escape the same way they came in. This proves tricky, because the more loot they grab, the more cursed cards they get in their decks.
