Heyo! This update focuses on compatibility and control. I’ve overhauled the input system and display handling to ensure RustForge works flawlessly regardless of your monitor setup or your other background applications.
I’ve heard your feedback regarding hotkey conflicts with apps like Discord, OBS, and Nvidia Overlay. You are no longer restricted to single-key assignments!
New Modifier Combinations: You can now bind hotkeys using Ctrl, Alt, Windows Key, and Shift combinations (e.g., Ctrl+F9, Ctrl+Shift+F2).
Conflict Resolution: Adding modifiers significantly reduces the "Hotkey failed to register" errors caused by other software claiming the same keys.
Updated UI: The hotkey capture system now intelligently waits for your full key combination before assigning it.
Previously, users on 4K monitors or laptops with Windows scaling set above 100% experienced "wonky" mouse movement or misaligned overlays. That is now a thing of the past.
Global DPI Awareness: RustForge is now fully DPI-aware on all Windows systems. The app will now render sharply and correctly regardless of your "Scale and Layout" settings.
Pixel-Perfect Input: Mouse coordinates and capture regions are now calculated using absolute screen space. This fixes the "offset" issues where the cursor wouldn't land where the overlay suggested on high-DPI displays.
Multi-Monitor Support: Improved coordinate handling for setups with multiple monitors using different DPI scales.
Display Swapping: Added full support for the Windows Key + Shift + Arrow Keys shortcut. If the app launches on the secondary monitor, you can now instantly snap it to your primary gaming display without losing coordinate alignment.
Improved Error Logging: Better reporting for hotkey registration failures, better error reporting.
Logic Optimization: Internal cleanup of the input hook system for better performance during high-speed painting.
Known Issue: If you previously had hotkeys saved, you may need to re-assign them in the settings menu to take advantage of the new formatting!
Happy Painting!
