We have some great news: Frontier: Path of Shadows is launching on September 10!
With release less than a month away, we’re putting the finishing touches on the game — and we’ve just updated the free Steam demo so you can try some of the improvements right now.
A faster start and more freedom from the beginning
The previous demo could make Frontier feel more linear and story-focused than it really is. Exploration and player choice are a big part of the experience, so we’ve reworked the opening to bring that across much sooner.
You’ll now reach open space almost immediately. From there, you decide where to go, who to fight, and what parts of the sector to explore. The main story will still be there whenever you’re ready to pick it back up.
No more equipment wear after a failed battle
We fixed an issue where equipment would lose durability even after a defeat. This meant that every retry could leave you worse off than before. Your gear now stays intact when you lose a battle.
Store scanning has been fixed
Some stores were unnecessarily difficult to scan in the previous build. They should now work as intended.
Nebulae can help you shake off pirates
Being chased through the sector? You can now use nebulae to break pursuit and lose pirates on your tail.
A new look for our Steam page
We’ve also updated the game’s Steam capsule artwork, so the store page has a fresh new look.
And that’s only a small part of what we’ve been working on. The full game will feature much more content, additional mechanics, and plenty more to discover across the sector.
If you’ve already played the demo, we’d love for you to come back and see what’s changed. And if Frontier: Path of Shadows is new to you, this is a great time to jump in.
As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Your feedback is helping us shape the game ahead of launch on September 10.
