This demo patch focuses heavily on performance, stability, and smoother gameplay. It also adds new Treasure Planets, a new GPU-based planet projectile system, smarter projectile cleanup, Ship Select Screen polish, and an expanded combat zone interdiction mechanic.
Performance should be massively improved in this update, especially during intense planet defense encounters with large amounts of projectiles on screen.
Added major performance optimization changes for smoother gameplay.
Added Treasure Planets. These are extremely rare, highly valuable planets that offer major rewards and drop multiple random bonus modules and weapons when destroyed. They are heavily defended.
Improved the Ship Select screen.
Added a new GPU-based planet weapon projectile system to eliminate lag caused by large amounts of planet defense projectiles.
Added smarter culling for player and ship projectiles flying far off into space.
Added a new leaving combat zone interdiction mechanic. If you fly too far away from the planet, increasing amounts of hostile interdiction ships will continue warping in to engage you.
Fixed enemy ships generating unavoidable one-shot missile salvos. Probably.
Fixed a small memory leak with planet defense machine guns.
Fixed a memory leak with enemy ship and player projectiles.
Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor did not work properly with dual monitor setups.
Fixed a crash that could occur during warp outs while controlling wingmen.
