CORTA Development Update — September 2026

Watchstander: CORTA · published 4 Sep 2026, 17:50 UTC

I’ve recently returned to active development on Watchstander: CORTA after being away for some time due to personal circumstances.

Since returning, I’ve been working through a substantial amount of feedback and making changes throughout the simulator, interface, radar, navigation displays, controls, and Rules of the Road training systems.

I also want to thank everyone who emailed the developer address, posted in Discord, left reviews, reported bugs, or sent suggestions while I was away. I have been reading through that feedback, and there is still more of it I intend to address.

One of the biggest additions is the first dedicated Rules of the Road scenario. The new scenario places you directly into an encounter inside the simulator and evaluates how you handle the situation rather than simply asking a multiple-choice question.

This is the direction I want to continue taking CORTA: knowledge testing combined with practical scenario-based Rules of the Road training.

More encounters and improvements are planned, but I want to be clear that they will take time. I’m not working on Watchstander full time, and I would rather be realistic about development than publish dates I may not be able to meet.

Please evaluate CORTA based on what is included in the product right now, rather than purchasing it solely because of something I’ve said I hope to add later.

If you recently purchased it and the current version isn’t what you were expecting, I would rather you use Steam’s refund option if you’re eligible than keep a product you’re unhappy with.

For those who are enjoying it and continuing to send feedback: thank you. I’m working through it, and more scenario training is on the way.
