Following Seas Hotfix 0.4.6 (Linux Performance Improvements)

Fixed loading screen prompts often being cut-off on some resolutions.

The main target of this update is Linux performance. Given the wide variety of Linux setups, and my limited testing access, I can't guarantee these fixes will work for everyone -- would much appreciate feedback via email or discord.

The last 1.X version of Following Seas averaged ~30 fps on my Steam deck, while the move to the 0.X setup along with the engine migration dropped things down to 2-3.

Now, after 32 separate testing builds -- I average ~40fps on the steam deck. In terms of cause - it seems the physX changes introduced with Unity 6.X don't play well with Linux, especially when asynchronous scene's with physics objects are present.

I've made a number of backend changes, and am optimistic that this will be a solid improvement for most systems, including PC, where I now reach 140fps on Waypoint.

Doing my best to get an update together - hoping for next weekend. Main blocker is the crew system, as there's a lot of little parts to it that need to be functional for anything to work. That said, a first iteration of crew is very near release, along with a number of other minor changes. While I expect it will launch in a some…Following SeasGame update3 Aug 2026Following Seas 0.4.8.1 (Fixed Ladders broken in last update)Sorry about that.
