Troopers! We’re glad to return after a long silence (sorry, we’ve been buried deep in work) and we’re ready to show the first footage from the upcoming fully reworked version of Entropos.
This time, we want to show how the first-person view works. It is neither a classic “True First-Person” system, where the camera is attached to a full character model, nor a separate pair of legs simply placed under the camera. We had a large and complex task with several important requirements. First, the first-person view had to look good — because in Entropos, it would be a crime not to admire the weapons. Second, the first-person view had to be correct: when looking down, you should be able to see not only your legs, but also a realistic view of your body from the chest down. In the future, this will also be useful for lying on your back and for interactions between characters. Third, it was especially important to achieve full synchronization between what you see yourself and how other players see you. This matters for fair gameplay, because in Entropos bullets do not come from your eyes, but exactly from the weapon barrel. By the direction of the barrel, you will clearly understand where you are going to shoot, or where your teammate or enemy is going to shoot.Camera shake animations are also created separately and specifically for first-person view, so they look good without causing motion sickness, unlike simply inheriting the movement from the full character body. And because, when looking down, you see the whole character from chest to feet, you can accurately control your body’s position in space — and… even shoot yourself in the leg.***We are only beginning to expand the character movement system, and there are still many new features and surprises ahead. One of them is a leaning system with shoulder switching, which will appear in one of the upcoming versions after pre-alpha testing of the updated Entropos begins. So stay tuned and follow the news!
