You might have noticed this little guy among the items at Caldora Airport. A garden gnome.
But the idea behind him goes a little deeper than your average garden decoration.
In old Polish folklore, small household spirits were known by many names - Skrzaty, Ubożęta, Podziomki, Krasnoludki. They were believed to live around the home and farm, helping with chores and looking after the household.
They weren't really meant to travel.
So what happens when someone takes one abroad?
According to our little story, the gnome doesn't simply become a decoration.
He becomes lost.
Without his household, he has nobody to help, nowhere to guard, and no one to leave him a little food at the end of the day.
That's why his owner gave him a passport.
Not so he could become a citizen.
So he could find his way home.
Keep an eye on him.
He might not be contraband. He might just be a Polish household spirit trying to get back to Poland. 🇵🇱🛂
