Captains, it’s time for one more run.
The new Fleetbreakers Demo is here, bringing with it some of the biggest changes we’ve made yet based on feedback from our July playtest.
Whether you joined us last time or you’re about to command your first fleet, there’s a lot that’s changed.
The Nexus, your ship inventory, has received a major redesign.
Managing and understanding your fleet should now feel much clearer, making it easier to see what you have and make decisions as you build your fleet throughout a run.
There are still details we want to continue polishing, but this is already a major improvement based directly on what we heard during the playtest.
We’ve completely reworked Extractors.
Previously, you could only have two active during a mission. Now, Extractors cost resources and you can build as many as you can afford, giving you more control over how heavily you want to invest in your economy.
Resource Missions have also changed. Their main resource rewards are now granted automatically when you win instead of requiring you to find crates.
Crates are still worth exploring for, but now primarily contain in-mission buffs for the squadron that collects them.
This also allows resource rewards to appear directly on the Starmap, giving you more information when deciding where your fleet should head next.
We want discovering Relics to make you think about where your run could go next.
Around 30% of our Relics have been improved or reworked, and we’ve added entirely new ones to create clearer strategies, stronger synergies, and more opportunities to experiment.
A few examples:
Deathslug — Grants a powerful damage boost when your starting squadron uses bullets, as part of a new group of Relics designed to reward different starting squadron choices.
Inversion — Your Acid Puddles still damage enemies, but now they also heal allies.
Snowglobe — Rather than simply increasing Shield Rating, it now heals units while their Shields recharge.
Lay an Egg — Mines now drop every time the effect is triggered rather than relying on chance. More reliable. More explosive.
And yes, Scavenger’s Feast, named by our #OneMoreRun community contest winner, is now part of Fleetbreakers history too!
Beyond these larger changes, we’ve continued improving Fleetbreakers across the board.
We’ve added a purchasable Repair Mothership ability to the Starbase, made the upgrade encounter’s gambling option fairer, introduced additional Relics affecting upgrades, improved navigation of the Discovery Tree, added more early-game Relic encounters, and continued balancing units, upgrades, encounters, and the economy.
We’ve also improved how Fleetbreakers introduces mechanics that players found unclear and fixed loads of bugs reported by both our playtesters and internal team.
Your feedback has been a huge part of these changes. Now we want you to experience them.
