Recent Updates and a Note from the Developer

Hi everyone,

Over the past few days, Recoil Trainer has received a series of updates focused on controller support, Overlay Mode, the Firing Range, Steam / Workshop related issues, and general UI and usability improvements.

First, I want to sincerely apologize to players who ran into issues while using the app. Recoil Trainer is developed and maintained by a solo developer, and the testing process has not been as strict or complete as it should have been. Some issues, especially those related to different controllers, Steam environments, resolution scaling, and Overlay Mode compatibility, should have been caught earlier. I am sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this may have caused.

Below is a summary of the main recent updates.

Controller and Overlay Mode Improvements

Several controller and Overlay Mode issues have been fixed or improved:

Fixed controller detection issues in Overlay Mode.

Improved handling for different types of controllers.

Fixed DualSense / DS controller compatibility in Overlay Mode.

Fixed controller stuck issues.

Fixed controller button UI issues.

Fixed Steam Input Mapping related issues.

Fixed controller input being blocked in Overlay Mode.

Fixed left stick deadzone behavior.

Fixed controller fire detection flickering between pressed and released states.

Added cm / DPI / 360 sensitivity settings.

Improved the ESC menu UI and performance.

UI, Guidance, and Usability Updates

To make the app easier to use, especially for new players, the following updates were added:

Major UI updates.

Added a first-time walkthrough tutorial.

Added ESC-based first-time guidance.

Added guidance hyperlinks.

Added crosshair support.

Fixed UI scaling under different resolutions.

Updated the style of recoil comparison GIFs.

Removed the Overlay Mode number index from the main view for a cleaner interface.

Steam, Workshop, and Configuration Fixes

Several Steam, Workshop, and configuration related issues were also investigated and fixed:

Fixed Steam Overlay related issues.

Fixed Steam initialization errors.

Fixed Steam DLL version mismatch initialization issues.

Fixed the No SteamClient023 issue affecting some users.

Added a legacy version fallback for users affected by Steam client version issues.

Fixed Workshop popup behavior.

Added a close button for Workshop update prompts.

Fixed profile library import from Workshop.

Optimized profile library performance.

Fixed export existence checking issues.

Fixed Chinese path import issues.

Fixed default settings and profile behavior issues.

Ongoing Support

Thank you to everyone who reported issues, submitted bug reports, left comments, or shared feedback. Many of these fixes were made possible because players took the time to describe what was going wrong.

As a solo developer, my current testing coverage is still not perfect, and this is something I need to keep improving. I will continue to actively support player feedback and bug reports, especially around controller compatibility, Overlay Mode stability, Steam / Workshop related issues, performance, and UI usability.

If you still encounter any problems, please feel free to report them through Steam discussions, reviews, or other feedback channels. I will keep following up and fixing issues as actively as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and support.
