Elegon Playtest · published

Another week of Elegon development is underway, with some great quality-of-life improvements alongside updates to combat, bosses, the Compendium, equipment and animations.
One of the biggest quality-of-life additions this week is AoE looting.
When several nearby creatures have loot available, you'll now be able to collect their items together rather than looting every creature individually.
I've also made a few other improvements to looting:
Items looted while in a party are now shown to other party members in party chat.
With auto loot disabled, you can hold Shift while clicking a creature to automatically loot it.
Auto loot speed has been adjusted to 0.25 seconds per item.
Fixed an issue that could prevent items from stacking correctly when moving them between your bags and bank.
Breach and World Bosses can now use telegraphed attacks, giving you a clearer opportunity to react to dangerous abilities before they land.
This is another step towards making boss encounters more readable and engaging rather than simply relying on basic attacks and abilities.
The Compendium has received another major update.
It now has a cleaner interface along with 3D model previews for creatures.
Creature entries can also reveal their available item drops. Whenever you obtain an item from a particular creature, that item will be discovered within the creature's loot table in the Compendium.
The goal is for the Compendium to gradually become a useful record of everything you've discovered while exploring Elegon.
I've added a range of new player animations covering combat, movement and other actions.
Knight abilities have also been updated to provide a more interesting rotation during the early game.
For Mages, Arcane Tempest can now be placed at a chosen location.
Ground-based spell effects are also now correctly visible to other players.
Equipment visuals have received another pass, including updated models and a large number of additional equipment models.
Quest objective markers can now also be seen directly on the main world map rather than only appearing on the minimap.
I've also continued improving the UI, including cleaner scrollbars and an updated bottom-right information bar.
A few additional fixes went out this week:
Fixed movement keys still controlling your character while typing into the Compendium search.
Fixed the quest tracker no longer scrolling correctly.
Improved the shader prewarming system.
Improved various UI elements and scrollbars.
As always, there's plenty more being worked on behind the scenes. Thanks for following the development of Elegon!
